          • Update with the Ghia.

Not much has actually happened. Jesse and I are trying to get a Super beetle ready for paint (Jesse's Inlaws car...no slammy slammy). I need to save some coin for a new fuel cell because the Dune Buggy tank I currently have gives me headaches. So I have a 16 gallon foam filled cell in mind, just need to get the funds for that. Once the gas fumes aren't an issue, driving the car will be waaaaay more enjoyable!

I'm also saving for an air to water Intercooler. When that happens, I can get a boost regulator and turn up the boost!

As mentioned earlier in this build, the car squats hard! I am looking into some QA1 shocks for the rear and possibly some bigger torsions. As well I have to figure out a bump stop thing. When the car gets into boost, it just drops the rear down...not even hard driving, just gentle boost still puts it down. Needless to say with the combination of the squatting and the fuel tank, I haven't really driven it hard.

I have made friends, and myself, giggle like little children when I put the peddle down and that is a glorious feeling!

I will be pulling the engine soon and brace the rear end... Also thinking of making a half cage.

Heres some photos that I took earlier in the summer. When work on the car starts up again, I will post the updates as it happens! Also, the Stinger is not going to be on the car this year.

            Cheers!

                          • So I picked up some QA1 coilovers for the Ghia. I'm hoping these will help with the hard squatting when the engine is boosting.

Put the engine back in and put it on the ground to see if the additional suspension was going to lift the car too much... and it did raise it up a bit. Im hoping once I'm driving the car again the springs will settle and the car gets back down to where it was before.

and a short clip of Jesse seeing how the coils are on their stiffest setting

All that's really left to do is get a fuel cell and re work the radiator shroud thing, then I can drive it again!

                              • well it appears I havent updated this in a while!

The new coilovers in the rear are amazing. No more hard squatting when I give it some pedal or when the turbo starts to spool. It's very responsive and quick now! We'll get out and shoot some good video of how it is now.

Some things that have been done over the last couple of months...

Fuel Cell and Radiator shroud plus some panels to block excess air from coming inside.

Love this foam filled fuel cell! The shroud keeps the heat off the cell and now I dont have unwanted hot air coming in the cab when the Fan turns on.

I have to properly seal the panels to the car and also coat them in some paint or something.

Then I Put the Rear bumper on Yesterday and took it out for some new photos... Oh yeah, and the stinger is gone... just straight 2.5" from the turbo. It's amazing.

Maybe this week Jesse and I will take a couple hours from the Oval build and go shoot some video of the ghia on the road. For now, here's a short clip a friend took while i took him out for a quick rip.

                                Cheers!
