Love the gold! I can't believe it took me so long to find this thread. Shot you a PM about your hardware.

Anyhoo, still just waiting on parts to come back from either plating or powder. I should have everything back in my hands tomorrow or saturday morning powder wise. The plating may be Monday or tuesday. Only thing stopping the motor from going back in is the transmission case as it needs to be rebuilt with its guts. I don't think my transmission guy actually knows what to expect. Told him all the plans. Gonna have to be careful with a bright white case and gold plated ARP hardware... haha. Hopefully it doesn't get too ****ed up..
Bye bye IE logo..

Shift tower, gives a good idea of the color I went with.

The powder is a 2 stage. Silver sparkle over a bright white, this is with no clear on top. Should be fun to keep clean..

Had the idea of painting Greg's logo on the tank instead of having a sticker. Roach killed it with this.. That kid is going places. Details, details, details..

Nevermind the pencil marks, I'll clean them off once the paint has had a few days to cure.

Unrelated, but at MAPerformance we're developing a larger capacity oil pan for Evo X's with a baffle (the baffle isn't anywhere near finished in these pictures) since those cars starve for oil on the track. This piece started out as a 120LB chunk of 6161 aluminum. Final piece will be cast aluminum, or stainless. Haven't decided on that quite yet. Love my job.

The gold isn't thick enough to peel. I've ran gold plated wheel bolts many times without issues, so no I'm not worried about it.Originally posted by smiles View PostThe gold looks awesome! My question would be do you think the threads will start peeling and cause problems once you start putting things back together?

Well, got it all sorted and counted. The plating shop didn't lose any of my stuff, which is nice. Boy is the plate thin.. After cleaning, sealing and then barely even buffing some of the bolts by hand I can tell that it nearly rubbed through to the metal below on hard edges..
I got all the wheel hardware cleaned, sealed and buffed. Only like 170 more bolts to go!
Enough talking, onto the gold porn..

You can see in one of the pictures the quick release Vibrant V-band clamp T-bolt's were plated with nuts on them, thus leaving the raw stainless behind. I'm going to be bringing those back to get re-plated, with how much they charged me this shit better be perfect. Nevermind the fact that they gave me an estimate and then effectively gave themselves the go ahead to double that estimate without notifying me..
