  • Z31 drift missile build

After spending this last season at the track with all my buddies sliding their drift cars I decided I needed one. So the hunt began for something that would be cheap and fun to get get sideways in that was not a real common chassis. This z31 popped up that had been built by my buddy and his brother along with a full parts car for a steal of a deal so I threw down the cash and bought them both, will be picking them up later on today so I will grab some more pics then. The interior is completely stripped out other than 2 seats and a dash shell so its pretty light for this chassis.
    Build list for this winter:
    2 fixed back race seats
    Fix the suspension
    Addco swaybars
    More wheels and tires
All new gauges in the stock locations
Possibly a custom supercharger setup with a MegaSquirt Ecu
    Lots of seat time
Please excuse the rake, PO was....special

good luck drifting that. idk how much u know about drifting but 1 of the biggest thing people look for is steering angle and this car has very little. but with that being said, congrats on the new car and with enough seat time you can drift anything!

Just VG33er swap it. It's a pretty much direct swap, and will be much more rewarding than sc'ing the vg30.

Gratz on the new car mane.

            In for shenanegans.
There is a huge following for z31's. They get sideways stupid easy. There's a cool YouTube vid of one and an s13 playing around. Type in "lazy Sunday z31" and prepare to want to go drive immediately. Lol.

I will have to check it out. Car overheated twice on the way back from buying it so I will be tearing into the cooling system asap to figure out whats going on. Found out the rear coilovers are adjusted all the way down, luckily that should not be an issue once I get my Stance coilovers. Grabbed a quick picture of the car at my buddies house where we had to stop and let the car cool off

I gotta say, trying to find 17x9 ~0 offset wheels is a bitch....about the only ones I can find are off-road wheels and of those there is only one set I like....feel free to throw out some links if you find something cool at a decent price

Watanabe are really popular with the S30/130s crowd, if standing out or attention whoring isn't your top priority, they have the size your looking for.

That would be gnarly....I do like the look of 17's on these cars but the 1uz swap is not a bad idea....

Thinking about trying these wheels out

They are 17x9 +0 and pretty inexpensive but they look super heavy...might order a set later on this winter a see how they fit
Edit: Just found out those are 26+ pounds each so.....no. Found some Rotas I dont ****, offset on them is weak but I have wheel spacers that might get them to not look stupid

                          Thoughts?

Figured out why the car is so damn raked out, the last owner put the wrong shocks on it....:fail: so I will be buying the correct shocks hopefully here in the next few days. Once I do that I will figure out if I am going to use the suspension that is on it now or if I am going to go for the Stance coilovers. I should have a roll hoop/harness bar going in the car as soon as I get my new seats, that way I can get the harness angle set right. I keep looking at wheels but I am having a really hard time deciding on anything....first world problems lol
