Scrapped the dumb idea i had to flip the style 5 barrels. was going to run 17 inch monza's to stay low but I just don't think 17s would cut it for long. here's a photoshop of the monza's i was going to buy and rebuild:

BUT I found a better deal on some 18s that are a perfect fit. i'll update whenever i get my hands on those wheels

ok after thinking about how much **** i'm gonna receive for flipping my style 5s, i'm just gonna scrap the stupid flipped barrel idea and find some real wheels. more updates when i'm not poor.

I'm gonna have to agree with this statement. 195/40's on a 5-series will look beyond silly, especially since you won't have any depth behind the face of the wheel.Originally posted by e39hamann View PostPlease don't do this, 195s? now that's stupid

I love them haha, the slammed 90's stepside mexican trucks with 15x10's and weird body kids and altezza tails are even cooler. No racism intended at all that's just where the style is from.Originally posted by willlarney View PostYOOO those are so silly that it's cool. and yeah the wheels are gonna look pretty stupid from behind for awhile. that is until i find some new icy rimtendoz
Go for it its definitely different. Just id be a bit careful because even e39's with 15's came with 225s at the minimum, coupled with the fact that your suspension is way stiffer than stock, its a pretty heavy car and the rolling diameter of 195/40 on a 17 is way smaller than the stock setup (dsc doesn't like that I hear) it may be really sketchy to drive aggressively, if the tires break grip traction control might not do its job and since you're probably running moderately sticky tires it'll be a bit sudden and hard when they do break what grip they have...
like i said go for it but don't die!Last edited by Stupid Kid; 01-02-2014, 11:20 AM.

thats pretty cool! i honestly dont think it'll look too ridiculous if you pull the fenders. im actually kinda stoked to see how itll look with both back wheels reversed and fenders pullled!

Pull your fenders that will get you a lot farther
It'll look mean from the side but goofy from behind because you've got 195's on the rear a car that can fit 295's easy with just a roll.
17x8s with 5.5 inch lips is going to look like the "mexi" civics we get down here with 13 inch reverse mount daytons.

Have fun tho don't die

had a bit of free time lately. so i took one of my wheels apart and reverse mounted it to see how ridiculous the 5 1/2 inch lips would look.
heres the front, note that the camber is maxed out negative. not sure exactly how many degrees it is.

and the rear:

The rears absolutely do not fit. So i'm either going to save up for camber bushings, orrr does anybody make camber arms for e39?
obviously getting smaller tires as soon as i have the money. Going to run 195/40sLast edited by willlarney; 01-01-2014, 06:31 PM.
