  • Beer for everyone aka my Corona wagon build

So in my craigslist browsing I stumbled across this rare item, a 1983 Toyota Corona wagon with a factory 5 speed and only 152,000 original miles. I very quickly sold my jeep to pick it up. Its in very good shape with only a couple rust spots. It is mostly stock other than the rear bumper delete and a weber carb on the 20r. For now I will be doing a quick cut on the front springs and a set of drop blocks on the leaf springs out back as well as a cheap set of wheels. Next spring summer I will be building coilovers for the front, doing an independent rear suspension swap, and who knows how much else will happen. Now on to the pics!

Fwiw Chevy s10 blocks and u bolts fit pretty good on these. (Atleast they did on my corolla wag) awesome find BTW.

Good to know! Hoping to have some progress pics here in the next week or so once its lowered. Going to test fit the wheels and tires off the Cressida on it to give me an idea of how wide and low offset I can really go with the solid axle out back, obviously once the IRS swap is complete that will change things entirely...

Just got home from an eight hour road trip to Montana to pick the car up! It drove great on the long drive home, car ran perfect other than being far too tall lol. I will get the pics of the trip up here in the next day or two, gotta get them all off my buddies camera.

Heres some pictures of the trip
At the dudes house looking at the car after a three and a half hour ride in my buddies slammed e30 with fixed bucket seats....I was glad to get into the Corona to say the least

Went and grabed a burrito and a soda before we got back on the road

After that we got back on the road, about half an hour later while cruseing along at a bit over 70mph a dear decides that he needs to cross the road, after a very good brake check I miss his dumbass by less than a foot so we pulled over at the next rest area for a smoke and a breather. After that the trip was uneventful, we hit a gas station and grabbed a couple cool pictures of the cars together

Might try to score some legit panasports off a local buddy this week, he is hooking me up with a pretty good deal so I may have the car lowered and some decent wheels by the end of this next week

Grabbed some 3" drop blocks from work tonight from work, going to grab a spring compressor tomorrow before I head home as well and then Monday we will be putting the drop blocks on and cutting the front springs as long as I can get some shop time.
Edit: Got my eye on a few different sets of wheels, some old, some new and some steel so we will see what happens

Looking forward to see what you do with this. I just bought a 81 corona lift back last week.

                    Its got potential man!

Didnt get as much done today as I hoped I would but we did get a new valve cover gasket dropped in to hopefully stop most of the oil leak. We started to throw the blocks on the back and very quickly discovered that the spare tire and carrier would be more or less sitting on the ground so that is going to have to come off before I can get low on a happier note I will be test fitting the wheels off the Cressida the day after tomorrow so that should give me an idea of how aggressive I can really go wheel wise. I will make sure to get some pics just for the LULZ. Thinking I am going to hunt down an S10 lip for the front after seeing a Corolla wagon with one that looked amazing, so junk yards here I come
This is pretty much my plan for the lip and fender mirrors

Thanks guys! Should have more pics tomorrow with a couple different sets of wheels on the car. I am also going to pull the spare tire and carrier off so I can get the car lowered here ASAP. Thinking I might fab up part of an exhaust late this week/early next week so that should be fun
