  • another ruined e36 m3...#cliqve

so i guess i should one of these build thread things.

alright so i once upon a time i had a maxima. went to h2o, met a bunch of great people. got tickets. went to jail. cost me a lot of money. hit a deer. that was the end of that. got all butthurt and h a t e d the car scene for a while. owned it for about a year. lost it last november.

Post your build threads here! Keep us updated on what you're doing in your garage.

Ended up buying a stock s14 240sx. beat the piss out of it all winter. then traded it to a buddy in April for a 95 M3 that needed a little TLC and a heater core. [still needs TLC and a heater core]. worked and saved money all summer, bitter and butthurt that all of my friends had cars to drive around and take to meets and shows and all i had was a boring m3 that did burnouts.

I told myself i was going to do everything the way i wanted the first time. I learned a lot from my maxima. no temporary suspension setups and no temporary wheel setups. I purchased a set of splits from germany. and while i was waiting for them to arrive i saved up some money and bought some broadway static coilovers. tiny spring gang!

spent what little free time i had over the course of a couple weeks polishing up my wheels. they need a full refinish, but i just stripped them and polished them for now and they're somewhat show worthy.

the wheel specs are perfect...and by perfect i mean they didn't fit so i bought some SPC arms for the rear for the tilty wheel effect. //__\\

My homie Victor is like a brother to me. He told me about stanceworks and stancenation back when i first got my maxima and was also the catalyst behind me getting into BMW's, as i've always been a Nissan guy. Thanks to him i was able to get my camber arms installed at the shop he works at. he also helped with a majority of the polishing of my wheels. oh...this is his car.

once the arms were in, i hit the road and headed south to delaware to visit my buddy Jonny. really good dude and one of the only people i'd ever let touch my fenders with a roller besides myself. @ohsomintyfresh on instagram or you can hit him up on facebook here. if you're within an hour or two of delaware and need any fender work or other work done, go see him.

Thank you Jaze [of Broadway Static] Shaun Quill, William Cole, and Derek Buehler for your help and inspiration I really appreciate it.

I have the rear sitting the way I want it to right now. still need to mess with my preload a little to get the ride quality back to how it was when i first put the coilovers on. I plan to get my rear toe straight next week and matching the camber in the front with the rear so the car looks more balanced but this is how it sits currently

The front needs to come down a lot more so that's part of the game plan for next week.

Get that toe fixed right away, i drove with the same amount of camber for two weeks, and it chewed up my tires.
To correct the toe, you will need to take the rear lower control arm holder off, elongate the holes then remount it, the stock adjustment is not enough.

Here is a picture i found on the internet. This is not a M3 subframe, but its built almost the same way. anyways in the picture, the lower left you see a red circle, right next to it, there are three elongated holes, that is were you adjust the toe on the car. those holes must be longer to have enough adjustment, to get the toe under control.

Anyways, some more camber upfront would really set it off. You can do so by adding washers to the two lower bolts in the spindle. you simply add washers between the strut and spindle. only thing to watch out for, is to get enough engaging threads on the two bolts. you might want longer ones depending on how many washers you stack. Hope any of this helps! good luck with the project, keep it up man

*edit - a picture of the added washers.

we are working on it, the toe is MAXXED out on stock adjustment. holes need to be slotted further and the carrier needs to be modified to get it into spec. but as me and wes are hard working folks we haven't had a chance to address it yet. o well its just tires.
once the toe is in spec the camber will looks a lot less extreme. its bowing out the back of the wheel making it look ridiculous when it really isn't to what others have ran on civic's
doing it for the internet and the scene kids.

Another E36 with way to much camber out back, to me it just looks silly.
Please match it with the front, even if it means raising it up a notch.

Sounds good, slot the carriers and you are good to go.
Wish i got more camber on my fronts before i sold the car.
here is a link to the rear camber i was running. - http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/...r/DSC02446.jpg

Agreed. They look silly with all that camber, especially a dead on rear view.
