My new (mild) LS430 build

Was out last week and noticed an LS430 UL on a lot that I purchased my 7series from. went in to "look" and ended up buying the car

only problem is no sound from the stereo. I suspect that the Mark Levinson amp is out...which is pretty common from what ive read about these cars.

Not sure if Im going to get the Datasystem air ride controller or just scrap the factory air and go with coilovers

The salesman said: trunk wont close, stereo has no sound and NAV doesnt work...other than that its really nice! They actually let me take it and finish shopping at the mall and finish my local errands. I had the car for an hour or so and went back b4 they closed

I guess they (owners and car lot) didnt notice the hidden keyhole on the trunk

Sooooo, After I signed the papers, I went out and closed the trunk.
got home and pulled the trunk panels to take a look at the NAV , Tuner and Amp. The Tuner and Navigation unit are totally rusted over.
I opened up the tuner and the board is rusted, & covered in "whatever" :p I just assumed the Nav unit was in the same condition. :sad:
The tuner damage came as a surprise, but the first thing I always mod is the stereo,so its not all that big of a deal to "make right".

I went thru the car again and found the leak source. Theres a rubber plug on the trunk lid that was not in place and the seal was not seated properly.

I put a new trunk seal on, new plug and new taillight gasket and its been holding fine even thru the heavy rain we've been having up here lately.

Found a new NAV unit , bought a tuner off ebay and sending the factory amp off to get repaired. I just want to be able to take the car back to "stock" if I ever decide to sell it.

This is the sucky part of builds but a lot of people mod before they have the car in perfect condition. This is a huge mistake IMHO

yeah, I think its really important to make sure everything is working correctly and well maintained b4 modding. Im buying new tuner, navigation unit and Mark Levinson amp...just to have the parts available if i decide to go back stock

Its a one owner car. fully dealer maintained....
The trunk had "soft close"...it was slammed (im assuming) and the lock engaged. so the sales guys were just slamming it while the trunk lid was locked
I just unlocked it with the correct key and let it close.

There was another salesman just slamming it over n over while I was in doing paperwork. Had to tell him to please leave it alone
