I bought some new tyres. The smallest 14” tyres I could find out here... 165/60/14. Brought the car down a bit more.
And finally got some white wall inserts. Been wanting to try this out for ages but just never got around to it.
Took the caps off for a bit because I really liked the look.
The need of spacers in the rear is real.
Realised that the the one rear side was a bit higher so I had adjusted. It’s kinda level now. Oh, got some rear mudflaps too. Can’t really see them because they are so thin and black. Scrapes on everything. I should try and get shorter moulded ones maybe.
Attended a show over the weekend called Rides and Vibes. It was a “crew” show and I was basically peer pressured into attending.
Some photos that weren’t taken with my iPhone. Lol. Ive been really lazy to use my camera lately. From the show.
To be honest, i’m not sure if I really like the look. I guess it needs to grow on me. It could be because the car looks higher with the white walls. But the hunt for alloys has begun. 15” or 16”. Preferable 15”... Not sure if I want to keep it retro or move along. I guess time and my budget will tell...
Such an inspirational story man! I wouldn't have even have known your car went through this much with out seeing this thread!
Do you drive like that daily? that low?
Yes I drive like that daily. I lowered it a bit more today actually. Cut the bump stops a bit up front and dropped the locking ring off the thread so that I could lower it a tad bit more. The drive is so bad. lol.

I finally get to update this this thread. Things have been slow. The freelance design life has been a bit rough. But hey, it’s over. I got some alloys. These will be temps until I can find a decent set of wheels. Did some test fitment to check what size spacers were needed. Just needs some tyres and have the lips polished.
Decided to shoot it in it’s current state as much as possible before the wheels get changed. The car isn’t slammed, didn’t want to daily it in super uncomfortable mode. Summer will be long enough for that. haha.
Changes coming other than wheels is just freshen up all the plastics, all red tails, 7 slat jetta front grill & lights. Besides general maintenance. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this thread active from now on.
An update before the end of 2014. While I was typing this 2 days ago, my car was stolen in front of my house. I feel like i’ve got the worst luck with this car. But thankfully it was found under 2 hours later. Nothing was damaged, thankfully. Just my seatbelt was cut up so that they could tow the car away. I found the car outside a police station because the guy got pulled over because of how low it is & my number plates don’t match the city. haha. It worked out nicely.
Anyway, back to the updates. I bought some spacers and pushed the rears out 20mm. Really liked the rears looking fuller. It was just for a few days until I fit my new wheels.
I’ve kept the Benz caps & white walls setup. I will probably end up widening it and putting them back on sometime in future.
I went with the enkie 92 in 8j with 165/50 & 175/50 tyres. Spaced the rears out by 9mm. I need to get 165/45’s all round and then i’ll be able to space some more. These wheels won’t be on for too long hopefully. Im on the lookout for something else. 14” possibly…
I hope I’ll be making good progress on Clover in 2015!
