Style-wise I plan to back date some of the details and go for a simple understated look.

Performance wise, I'll be restoring the brakes and suspension with performance parts and swapping in a stronger powerplant. The hope is to build a solid driver car that will be reliable but also fun in the mountains/canyons.

The Lowly Gentlemen 1974 Austin Mini

It's about time I started a thread for my latest project car as it arrived at the StanceWorks garage a month or two ago. It's a car that I've wanted since I was a little kid and I'm beyond excited to have on in my grasps now. As many you may know, I've built 2 of the new MINIs in the past. I loved them, but they never quite filled my desire for a true Classic Mini.

For the background story on my love for Minis, you can read my article here:

This summer, I picked up a 1974 Austin Mini. It's El Paso Beige with a black interior. It's powered by the 998 A-Series and sits on top of a very tired rubber cone suspension that will need a thorough refreshing soon. It originated in the UK and as such is a RHD model.

As it arrived from the previous owner:

The first step was removing the old vinyl to clean the car's appearance up a bit
