I like this a lot, and I'm not normally super intrigued by old BMWs, just always thought they were pretty sweet. Keep it up!

Well it's driving! Damn this thing is fun. It's pretty damn quick but to be honest I like hearing the turbo whistle more :P. I fell into some problems like the turbo I got from the junkyard had bad seals so I was burning oil like crazy, and other small things. But I have it driving now which I'm stoked on! Everything is pretty good so far. It spools up pretty quick, I'm loving cruising in it again.
Also mounted my boost gauge and AFM where the ashtray used to be
Turned out pretty good.
Anyway, I have been dying to lower it so I ordered some JDM coilover sleeves to start on the DIY coilover project. Going to make a skidplate first to keep me from bashing the oil pan in but after that it's AWN!

Wasted no time on this! I want to turbo a M30. I have always wished the the intake came in on the left side so that cleaner and shorter piping can be run.

This is awesome! I built a jeep wrangler LJ then decided I wanted the best of both worlds so I bought an e30 and still have the Jeep. Your rock crawlers look awesome, and I'm really jealous that the Rubicon Trail is basically in your backyard. I have wheeled out there with some friends and it is absolutely incredible.Instagram: @dillonmakar

Yeah wheelin is a ton of fun, and yeah towing from my house to the Rubicon trail head is only about an hour and thirty to two hours. I'm going to build a budget crawler here pretty soon.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I'll try to get a video of the turbo spooling, it's a ton of fun to drive.
I got the coilover sleeves in. Going to shoot on having those in by the end of the week, we'll see. I'll keep it updated.

There was a dealershop radar detector? lol...
This is bad ass!
Sorry to be prying but how much has the turbo setup cost you?
Both in time and money..
Theres and e24 with an empty bay sitting in my driveway and a b35 in the garage... Trying to convince my dad to turbo it while everything is taken apart, of course hes an old man and is all "grumble grumble.. time and money"
Also post some vidoes of the noise! turbo m30's sound so nice...Last edited by Stupid Kid; 10-29-2013, 11:21 AM.

Time - 2 months total. That's with full time school and work.
Money - Oh god. Don't really want to add it up. But I should.. Just went through all my online receipts and added in a couple hundred for stuff I would buy at Napa, and the exhaust etc. I spent about $2000-2200. I bought a ton of fittings though that I didn't need which ended up probably being $150. And that price also includes the 2 gauges, AFR and Boost, that was $250 right there.
Definitely worth it though
I'll try to get a video up soon of this bitch whistlin

I learned a ton about crawlers and fabrication from forums, builds are a great way to get feedback from people and learn!
Just got in from the garage, drew up a rough plan for a skid plate, will go down and use my buddy's break tomorrow morning and hopefully have it in tomorrow. After that I'll be modifying the struts, stay tuned!

Sooper ricer dood
I got the car lowered. Did the DIY coilover sleeves on the front struts with Eibach springs and in the rear I cut 5 coils. I gave my skidplate plans to my local metal/welding shop for a buddy of mine to shear out. I'll have that Friday and will throw some pictures up of how I'll be mounting it.
Really happy with the way it turned out. I have about a 3/8"-1/2" gap between fender and tire up front, but with the high spring rates up front it's not too bad. Got it all done today. This car suspension stuff is a lot easier than crawlers haha
