  • AUS Spec MY12 wrx

In late November 2011 my partner and I were just randomly cruising Adelaide streets in a 08 wrx hatch, when all of a sudden she suggested that i upgrade to the new one, so with a quick u-turn, we pulled into Jarvis Subaru @west terrace, with a top trade-in and a 3 month wait, come late February 2012 i was the owner of a new wrx. after saying it was going to stay stock for as long as possible, with in the 1 st week i had on order ultrex short shift, perrin stumpy antenna, perrin engine dress pieces.

with the mod bug- i purchased new rims and coilovers from troy @PSR, with the car being up on stands half way installing the coilovers i decided that itll be a good chance to upgrade to some slotted rotors and better brake pads, with everything in i also decided to install some lips, a short talk with N1-auto i had CS style front lip and sti side reps

with audio being shitty, ive upgraded to alpine type-R 6.5 splits and 6.5 2ways, was running alpine single din unit with the PSR fascia but ive got the JAP spec fascia from japanparts.com and running pioneer AVH-X5550BT installed atm
also ordered leather centre console lid and front fog light covers from japanparts.com, while running the left cover opted to remove the right fog light and cut away a section of the underside of the air box to allow more cool air into the box.

12months on, and with the US scene becoming big with air ride cars, i decided to be the black sheep in AUS and go for somthing different, after heaps of research and trolling forums for info and specs, i was going to do it,
with the coilovers being sold before the airride setup being delivered, i went back to stock suspension for a good month

installing of the air lift struts was no differance to any other struts, but running the air line was a hassle, after finding no channels to run the line 1/4 line under the car decided to run the lines through the cabin, running the front down the left hand side through the car and out across the firewall (this was the hardest part with no room to work in), mounted the 5g tank right behind the rear seat which allowed me to fold the rear carpet up to hide the install from view (if a cop decided opened the boot for some unknown reason)

with being different i was getting tried of the boring gunmetal coloured rims, i got HWH powdercoats to fix a small gutter mark and got a colour change to somthing a little diferent, after looking over the colour chart several times, i finally choose dark violet which turned out awesome up against my white car, little disappointed that in low light/ night time they look blackish, which is the last colour i wanted

    updated 1/2/14

after living in Adelaide to regional NSW and back to Adelaide within 2 yrs whole front end was peppered with stone chips with a 5c size on the bonnet, i got it freshly paint thanks to Champion smash repairs, also got the black part of the front grill colour matched, no more stone chips

Looks very sharp! Wheels don't look very stancy or showy, but otherwise I love it! Cool to see someone doing bags on a new wrx

Australian laws... no part of a wheel to protrude past the guard, and the hassle to get the defect notice off is usually troublesome.
