Econo VTEC engages at a low RPM (around 2200) but the cam profile is so mild, it really doesn't do a damn thing. It's behavior is almost the same as non VTEC B's, D's and F's from years of old. They just put VTEC in because of all the hype from back in the day so the ricers can scream they have VTEC when they really don't.

I actually just took a video today but I won't be able to upload it till after work cause Flickr app is stupid, but I have been avoiding it till I get my new axle back cause I destroyed my greddy canister

But apparently with the r series when the econo vtec engages fuel economy gets better unlike other Honda vtec, but there are 2 levels of vtec an econo vtec and I think just a general vtec, not to sure.

Lol, I don't even care about having vtec in my car, all it does is Make a bwah noise after it engages it's all Just for show like you said, so people like me can scream "vtec kicked in" lol, I have had yet to see a benefit to in on my car
