  • 5 contact patches including the crossmember

Well folks its about that time where I post up some pictures of the coils alll the way down.

But first, I'll post everything leading up to that.

    finished bleeding the brakes

wound the coils all the way down in the garage because I couldn't wait to see what it looked like.

You'll notice 2 things: 1) the crossmember is resting on my garage floor 2) Similarly, so is the hardline which goes to the front right brake. no bueno

So I raised the coils back up, and used a pipe bender tool to get the hardline up above the level of the crossmember

I started the car, drove off the wood, went to brake, allllll the way to the floor with 0% stopping power- bleeding the brakes turned out well I guess

I said what ever, I'll get out of the driveway, into visitor parking, wind down the coils, and just drive around the block using the ebrake to stop.

I get about 7 feet before its just KKKRRRCHCHCHHCHHHh.. I pull over and raise it up about 10 threads and here's where the car sits now

I'm getting it towed to a volvo mechanic tomorrow to have the brakes bled. Only reason I wouldn't re-try it is I have to smog it before I leave for school and don't want to be pressed for time (only 6 days left)

thats it for now, I'll try to get some decent pictures before I leave.

    I'll end with this:

as always leave feedback, good, bad, doesn't matter

Thats with 8" 350# springs and the short Bilstein HD's they offer. The springs are just on the verge of overpowering the shocks and it feels a tiny bit bouncy but also very stiff

Depending on spring choice they can literally go as low as physically possible

        • Looking good. Is that a GT front lip? I'm honestly not really a fan of them, they look kind of awkward, Personally, I'd go back to the stock front lip...
Good choice on the coilovers btw, I'm going the cheap way and piecing mine together..
I have a build and no link to it

ding ding ding thats correct. The PO is the one who installed it and I personally like it especially since it sits lower than the stock valence. Once I have the v70 side skirts to match it should flow better

                • Getting Olga towed was.. an experience. I got turned down by the first truck that showed up. My mom called AAA and I said my car was lowered and they didn't even send a truck out.

Called a different company after I raised the front all the way up, the guy had to put 1 piece of wood down to make sure the exhaust didn't scrape and charged me 125 instead of 80. classic.

Here she is on the truck though:

having the brakes bled then I have to get it smogged.. that should be interesting.

After that I wanna start cutting up the fenders and try to get the wheels mocked up. So much to do and so little time- 3 days until I leave for school

                  • Damn! This thing is gnarly! You're a much braver man than me going with such a crazy wheel setup! As far as the polishing goes, I would highly suggest checking out the Polishing lips, DIY thread on here, it helped me a TON cuz I'd never polishing lips either. And I know it's a little late now, but I would also highly suggest disassembling the wheels and saving yourself a lot of trouble. My wheels are one piece so I don't have a choice, but I would much rather sand the lip without it already on the wheel, it would make things much easier. Another tip would be to take your time with the rougher grit, really get all the scratches/nicks/curb rash out at that point so then moving to finer and finer grits will take less time, and wet sand at every stage of sanding. Good luck with everything, this will be sick when it's done!

The only thing that would be cooler is if we both also had Z's, oh wait.. hahaha
