I decided to blow a paycheck today and throw down six Benjamin's on a running and driving BMW 2002. Fjord blue, unknown amount of miles, and enough rust to make a restoration shop fall to it's knees. I had driven this car as a DD for a while until Jason @ Heritage sold it to a teenager for $1000. Long story short, it's got problems and he doesn't want to deal with it. I cut him a deal and drove it home this morning.

For some odd reason, the PO decided to spray plasti-dip over the rust spots and half the front of the car. He cut the rust holes out of the roof but never filled them, so now it just has two gaping holes in the roof, and the floor pans under the gas pedal and rear passenger side are nonexistent. Also I'm fairly sure the driver's side frame rail is rusted through.

This isn't to mention all the holes in the trunk and surface rust in general. I don't care, I'll patch the holes necessary for keeping feet and whatnot in and water out and that'll be it. That should be happening at Heritage soon. I drove it about 20 miles home today before the POs great idea of zip-tying the radiator in failed. Fan tore into the bottom of the radiator and it leaks slowly but surely. Lost all but a cup of water sitting in the garage today.

All problems aside, I've been longing for a 2002 for a while now and I've finally got one. The first few weeks will probably be just TLC making her run well and drive happily. Then it will be on to a head rebuild, new wheels and tires, suspension work, 5 speed swap, who knows. It's a welcome addition to the family and I'm excited to wrench on it.
