  • 9-3 Saab wagon

    Hi guys
New to the forum so I thought I'd throw up my build thread
Car is a aus spec 1.8t 9-3 Saab wagon. Not many in Western Australia so it's been hard trying to find some nice dish wheels and coilovers.

Can anyone help me out with a decent wheel site to buy some rims online??

Want to get the wagon slammed with a good stance

    Cheers

First off, don't bother much trying to buy anything locally or at least in Perth. Anything 'legit' is usually way over what it should be worth.

With coilovers there are quite a few options, not sure who makes them for your particular model though. The ever popular BC Racing ones are not bad, i got mine through Garage 7 over east for my E30 (though they still aren't fitted :P). He goes through Just Jap who are the Australian distributor anyway, but he is happy to talk things out and organise custom spring rates/valving/spring lengths (mine are uprated spring rates, shortest springs and i believe upgraded valving). Just Jap were rude when i asked them and ignored all my questions.

In terms of wheels, what do you want? You can buy cheap fake wheels locally, otherwise if you want something Japanese or European i'd start looking at overseas suppliers. For Japanese wheels, i've always used Jesse Streeter www.jessestreeter.com to import mine to Perth. Gets great prices and very quick to respond. Otherwise for euro wheels it gets harder, if you have money to burn you could be like me and speak to Claus at Felgen Garage. He is based in Germany and custom rebuilds Oz Futura, BBS RS etc to your specs. I went through him for OZ Futura 17s (again for the E30 and again not on it yet!) and by the time i added wheel cost plus postage etc i think it ran up $3.5k (~+) :P

Be patient, look around, go for quality over whats readily available is my advice. So many Perth people are just sheep when it comes to modifying cars, with something like this you could really do something cool..!

Hey dude, It's cool to see some people from Perth floating around here, hopefully we might inspire people to try something other than rotas as the go to wheel choice haha. As for wheels, have you tried 'JDM Rims For Aus' Facebook group. It isn't exclusively JDM, anything legitimate goes really. There's usually something good and prices seem generally alright. Good luck on the build!
