  • The not so common E46 Compact!

    Hi there!

I thought it were time to reveal my ride to the rest of the world!

I'm a 24 year old guy from Sweden (you gonna notice that by my spelling.. it sucks! I talk alot better then I write, but what does that help you? )

Okay, I drive a 2002 BMW E46 318ti. Bought the car for almost 4 years ago and back then I didn't have any thoughts about stance it, but things changes with time and apperently both my taste and car did this aswell.

But enough talk for now, here comes some pics instead

The car back in 2011. Not so much to hang in the christmastree as we say here in Sweden :P

In 2012 it looked like this, most of my time went to repair and change stuff like brakes and such.

And after 2012 came 2013, the year I opened my eyes and welcomed stance!

Bought myself a set of E34 M5 gen 1 rims, also known as turbine wheels. I started to refurbish they, got hold of a set of throwing stars covers .

Gave them away to my cousin for paint and while I waited I took and installed my coils.

Which didn't go as planned ...

It took me less then a fart to brake the bolt to the clamp around the shockabsorber. A lot of swearing and drilling later things could proceed as I first imagine

    First time on coils!

I also got my rims back from painting

Faster than a squirrel I got the tires mounted and a coffee-break later they where mounted on the car

Pretty low for a daily ride in a country where I absolutely loves speedhumps and potholes ..

At the end it looked like this, but I wasn't pleased with the fitment and I didn't want to lower it more as I already cracked the subframe

    Solution: New rims!

Bought I new pair of Hammersport by BBS. What I know they are pretty rare? Anyway, they messured 8.5x19" ET16 in the front and 10x19" ET25 in the back!

    Stripped the paint

Started polishing and when I was done they looked like this

But I'm starting to get tired so it's time to end all history and acutally give you som reason photos of the car

Today it looks like ... damdamdam... this!!

My plans is to lower it a bit more, get some ever better fitment and such

    Hope you like it!

Ooh, I nearly forgot! Do you have E46 Compact's in America?

We did not get e46 compacts over here. They are, uh, an interesting looking model. I do like where you're going with this though. Just hard to get over the look of that front end.

                Thanks guys!

Yeah, the front end! It's extremely debated world wide, some loves it and some hates it!
When I bought the car I didn't know what I thought about it, but since then it has really grown at me and today I absolutely love it! It's much more "agressive" lookin then the rest of the E46 family imo

There's a lot of car models that you at first site thought look like shit, but the more you seen it, the better you think it looked. For example, the latest Volvo V70. When it came out in 2007 I thought it looked like shit but today I think it isn't what bad.. still not adoreble but it ain't does so my eyes wanna run off and hide in the forest :P

There are not so many stanced, I think there's about 4-5 in total all over the world

Hmmm, front end is a little weird, but as you said it's an acquired look.

Fitment looks good! Really liking it.

No way, I would never swap front! This is a compact and I want it to look like one aswell

But I'm thinking of swaping the bumpers into M-sport instead

It surely is! But I think it has the haritage of the old BMW models as E30, E34 etc. with seperated hi- and low-beams

The fitment is OK, it can be better and it will be better as soon as my thumb finds its way home from being stuck in my asshole
