sometimes people will also polish the pulleys and the fan.

I think it suits your car

it's like we have the same brain....(that sounds weird), you're doing exactly what I would do with my Amazon. there should be an award for people like you who build cars properly

This is going to look fantastic!

I have found LPS ZeroTri to be the best degreaser product I have used... I used it to blast 20,000 miles of gunk off one of my old motorcycles quite well

Scrubbing Bubbles works great for degreasing =)

Engine is out. Now to start cleaning, sanding, painting, polishing, etc... ugh. Does anyone have any tricks for removing built up grease and grime? Ive tried some of the off the shelf degreasers but they arent cutting it. I plan on replacing some hoses and wires that might need it as well. Alternator will go in as well. I have a slow trans leak so I'll address that too.

Got some stuff back from polishing including the carbs which look so good, and picked up some plated parts. Wheels came in as well! Although, they wont look like this when they go on the car. Im having the centers powder coated black and leaving the cap and lip polished.

Do your steelies have the groves on the pad to fit the Volvo center that allows those caps to bolt up? I have a set of the centers I'd love to test in place of the current smoothies.

Been following your build for a while. I need to stop. Looks fantastic.

Sorry about all of the photos! Took some shots the other day before I started tearing down the bay/pulling the motor for painting, polishing, cleaning, etc. I'll be updating the thread with actual work as as I get further into it. Wheels are still a couple of weeks out and its getting too hot here in Phoenix to drive the Volvo, so I figure now is as good a time as any.

I debated 16s for a while, but I keep going with the 17s for the tuck factor.

(btw, are those things for sale?) And even in your failure (which is the wrong word for it) you still managed to lower your car even more and repair problems you didn't know you had. That's one hell of a good learning experience if you ask me.

The pics look amazing, as always, and my favorite has to be the side profile shot right in front of the Capital Grille. it's so classic and timeless, very nice work.

    Thanks man!

Yeah the steelie thing was a bummer, but had fun doing it. Was definitely a good learning experience too. Im not sure what Im going to do with them yet, but they might be for sale someday.
