There were some little scuffs on the fenders from leaning over them for the last month and some over spray from when I painted this and that, so I had the car polished and waxed today. I couldnt be happier with how it came out.

However, I had another set back on the carbs and had some of the old issues pop up. I decided to just order a really nice pair off ebay and just be done with the ones on the car now. There are a handful of issues with these carbs that will always be in the back of my mind and to have them rebuilt would likely cost me as much if not more than the ones I ordered. I didnt want to have to worry about the performance or reliability of the car anymore. They are about as clean as a used set of carbs can be and have apparently have been "disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled professionally". Pretty excited to get these on next week and see the difference.

Yeah me too. Glad it was something I was able to sort out. There really isnt anywhere to take the car locally for any sort of service. Sometimes its a pain in the ass, but sometimes im thankful that it forces me to find solutions. I definitely appreciate the advice from people on the boards too

So the culprit may have been the floats. They were sitting higher than the specs they are supposed to be set at. I set them using a 1/8 drill bit and put the lids back on the bowls. I then started to get fuel coming from the weep hole on the back carb. I removed them, tried again and got the same result. I remembered I had a set of the newer style black replacement floats laying around so I put those on, set them and tried again. This time I was leaking no fuel and the road test was a success. I drove around for about 30 minutes with it driving very well. I think for the most part its back to how it used to be before all of this started. I may have a little bit of tuning to do, but I feel pretty happy to be up and running again.

A friend lent me his carbs and I determined the fault is definitely in the carbs somewhere. The car drove fine after I put the borrowed carbs on. Test drove it for about 10 minutes and didnt get it replicate any of the issues it had with my carbs on the car. I did however notice that I could get it to lower rpms when spraying carb cleaner near the throttle shaft where the linkage connects just like it did before. So the problem may be somewhere else in the carbs because it drove fine with that same vac issue. I might have always had the problem before, but it drove fine so I never noticed it. Got some answers, but also raised more questions...

Normally the most people just do the same thing as they see on internet or meetings. Like some "hot-rodders" and "tuningboys" (don't get me rong...) do, but you took a car that isn't that famous. And there aren't any tuning parts or (almost) no aftermarket parts and bits to find. Such as for example a mustang, camaro, impala etc ... I really like that !!! (hope there aren't much faults in my tekst because i'm from The Great Little Belgium )

    Thanks, they are 17x7

Thanks, yeah the plastidip was definitely a good test to see how they would look. The powdercoat is a little glossier, but still not high gloss. They came out great though.

I likely has more to do with getting it tuned from removing and reinstalling the motor. It was running fine on the gas that was in the tank a month or so ago. I went and got a couple gallons just in case the sender was off to rule out the tank.

    Thank you!

From time to time i spray a can of brakecleaner round my manifold or vacuuumlines (with a running engine), if the rpm changes you have an airleak.

Air leaks in the manifold are very comon for this type of engine.

Also its very common that the su"s are worn out and wont be able to set properly. You can buy revision sets with the right needles.
    I'll try the brake cleaner

Yeah, positive its not vacuum controlled.
