  • E92 Drop & Stance (Lots of pics)

    So I got my black sapphire metallic M Sport E92 looking like this;

    & now I have it looking like this;

    So yeh, I started off going down the OEM look, but that only last about 2 1/2 weeks before I got bored;

    (Excuse the crappy iPhone pics)

    First thing I done was get a new set of rims...

    19" 8.5j/9.5j M359 CSL Comp style alloys

    Got some tyres then went out and fitted them...

    Went out with the bro and his e60 and got a couple of shots..

    So next thing I decided to do was an extremely quick & cheap mod.

    Pre-LCI tail lights

    Comparison

    & still Pre-LCI tail lights, only white sections covered in red lamin x..

    Gives the rear end a bit of an LCI look without the cost of buying LCI rears.

    Was quite happy with how it turned out to be honest

      A few days later I got a couple of things in the post.
      I love getting packages

      ***** the halogen coloured halo's.. just didn't look good against the xenon beams at all. So I ordered these up and fitted them in.
      Was very simple to fit these, only takes about 10 mins to do.

      Trying to get a good picture of them on, capturing the true colour and light is nearly impossible to do with an iPhone! 0259:

      Best picture I could get was this..

      In person you can see they look well. Match the xenons perfectly and just give a better/newer look to the car.

      Next package

      Set of kidney grilles painted in Black Sapphire Metallic to match the body.
      Got these for about £50/60 painted and posted from the eBay, which reminds me, I also got the m3 lip spoiler painted and posted for £40. (Can see it fitted in some the other pics)

      Standard chrome grille

      Comparison pic

      Colour coded grille

      Another job done quicker and easier than I expected.

        So next on the list was the most important mod.

        Put the car up on the ramp, and got the coilovers in.
        Got the coilovers off a forum member for a very very good price after only been used for a month by himself.
        They're FK coilovers, & to be honest, I only got these to do me for a short period as well, until I had a bit of spare cash to get a set of bc coilovers but I'm so impressed with the ride that I'm going to keep these in for the time being anyway.
        My brother has his e60 dropped on bc-racing coilovers and has the dampening set to as stiff as it goes so of course it's going to be bumpy, but I expected the fk's to run worse and I was pleasantly surprised at the fact they didn't feel much different to the stock m sport suspension!

        Any way, on with the fitting. Terrible picture, but uh ohhh...

        Had to fit a set of 5mm spacers that I had lying around in the front to clear the shock.

        & viola...

        Makes such a difference lowering it.

        Have about 5mm to go down in the front still but I think my tyres are too big to allow the extra drop :
        May try it though and see how it goes.
        Adjusters and helper springs are all still in so when I get my new wheels with decent stretch I can go down a good bit more

          Another package came

          Always thought the stock M Sport diffuser looked out of place with the plasticky grey finish. May look ok with different colours, but against the BSM it just didn't do anything for me at all, actually annoyed me when I looked at it!

          So I decided to give it a go with plasti-dip so as I could just rip it straight off if I didn't like how it turned out.

          Had read people saying it was hard/tricky to get the diffuser off, so I planned on taping the surrounding area off & spraying on the car but after trying this for about a minute I got annoyed and thought it seemed like more hassle!

          Turns out you just need to unscrew about 5 screws and the diffuser pops off pretty easily.

          Give it a spray (about 8 layers) popped it back on, and was pleased with the outcome.

          Have a couple more plans for the future (apart from new rims);
          • Front lip - not sure which one?
          • Light/medium window tint
          • Dual exhaust tip - to give the rear a better finish

            Just some recent updates.

            Got rid of the M359's and got a new set of rims.

            While I was waiting on my tyres coming I threw a set of my brother's X5 wheels on

            Only had them on for a day or so then my tyres came through :thumsup:

            Put them on but haven't had a chance to get any good pictures yet, just a few that I'd taken after fitting them.

            Specs at the moment are 19" x 8.5"/9.5" et18/et15.

            Good news is, with these on I have a good bit more clearance on the front for more lows! :thumsup:

            Once I get some camber sorted out the offsets can be lowered more, then they'll do until I can save up for some phat ass rims

                Got my front lip today

                Quick photo I took, still need to get shots with a real camera rather than my iPhone!

                Excuse the dirty car! :

                  Took the lip off and sprayed it gloss black, looks a lot better now!
                  Hadn't been painted when I mounted it on the other day, was just a black plastic finish.

                      Haven't got a picture to compare before & after, but this is how the rear is sitting now.
                      Maxed out as far as it'll go..

                      Fronts are maxed out with the alignment pin removed, can't get that much until I get some camber plates, then I can match the front with the rear and add a little more poke.

                              Mmmmm yes. Only thing I can say is cut off those JDM wings on that lip. I did that to my polyurathane one and it looks a lot better without them.
