Since your on the cheap about lowering, follow 'MRNICEGUY's advice, drop it with cut springs for now, go out and buy side skirts, wheels, and your set... close to a 1,000$ and it looks success. ---Have a friend that just bought a S10 that has a body kit, and thought his shit was low at stock height....

I'm planning for some GTA rims actually, if I can find some for a decent price. I can get four for around $550 on Craigslist right now. I feel like IROC's are better on lifted trucks though, just my opinion. I am going to decorate the inside with fabric and a little paint (while not overdoing it), get a bed cap and put a roof rack on it, and maybe a valance. I may even throw a intake in there. Then I may upgrade the audio system because it's kinda crappy at the moment.

In the meantime I have a lot of bodywork, painting, and general maintenance to do.

For $550 they better be mint. Those wheels with tires are $300. Check the thirdgen forums always somebody selling them.

One of my first projects was a S-10 back when I was about 17, I'm guessing you are right around that age so Im gonna take it easy on you and offer some advice.
S-10's are a great low budget platform, it takes almost nothing but a nice drop to give them some style and you can get the truck down in the weeds with nothing more than blocks and cut springs.
My advice is quit buying pink paint and put that money towards some lowering blocks and U-bolts ($40) Then remove and cut a couple coils off of the front coils ($0) and presto, your slammed. It's going to ride like hell and the axel will keep smacking your frame without a notch, but your younge and can deal with it I'm sure.

I'm 20 but this is my first time ever considering lowering a vehicle. I had a S10 Blazer before and wanted to lift it. It took less than a month to switch from the lifted to lowered style.

And thank you for the advice! I'm not to keen on cutting coils, I hear bad things about doing that... that is a lot cheaper then I thought though and I'll look into doing it. My first priority is making it look pretty; fix up the scratched paint, bodywork... fix some bad bodywork, and clean it up. The interior is still dirty, and I'd be out there cleaning it now if it wasn't storming....

Lowering it would be great, but it can wait. I'm kind of OCD about how things look and one scratch will annoy me until it's fixed, and the truck is full of them. I painted my entire previous truck because I didn't like the condition of the paint. I want to paint the wheels because they are rusted and me no-gusta.

I do appreciate everyone comments but I do have everything planned out.

save your pennies instead of painting dumbass shit pink. there are plenty of low budget, sub-$2000 build on here to take notes from, CLEAN IT UP and be patient, think it through buddy. don't be a Celli.

There is a huge difference between "low budget" and "no budget." And I'm painting the wheels pink because I want too paint them pink. And I am going to clean up the truck, don't worry. It needs a LOT of work and I have plenty of time.

My cousin's going after a lowering kit for me but if it's out of my price range it's going to have to wait until after I get a job and pay my insurance bill (not looking forward to that... being under 25 can suck sometimes).

I'm thinking about going with a 5/6" drop, this is the look I'm going for...

I spent about an hour cleaning up the interior after posting that, got some more to do but I need to drag the vacuum out. I also cleaned out the bed which was filled with dirt and leaves. I was going to install some tow hooks but left all the hardware for them in my old Blazer which got towed away Monday (oops...)

I also cleaned up all the lights from spray paint over-spray using a scrub pad and vegetable oil. I have my mom to thank for that suggestion!
