      • Holy shit am I back. After a horrible winter lay off, lack of funds and a career change Im finally back to working on the truck!!!. Chrome grill and new vent shade visors are undergoing a black chrome treatment. Ive had custom eye lids made for my head lights which will also be getting black chromed. To Help blend in the upper turn signals to the new black chrome grill I custom smoked them with lamin-x. I bought all new weather strips, window and door seals aswell. Ordered a new set of tail lamps but im not sure how I feel about them yet. (pictures later) I liked the way they looked in pictures better. I may order a new set of the oem factory ones instead. Working on a few other custom goodies including a manual paddle set up for a front bags but that wont be till summer. Hoping to have the truck all cleaned up with the new face lift for next sundays Fresh Meet.
Back to work on the shop truck. After a lay off, miserable winter. Job change and lack of funds it's time to give the truck a face lift. First step smoked upper turn signals to match the one off custom black chrome grill I'm working on. <img src= photo 10175007_623503271071333_5986512687933517790_n.jpg"/>

          • So the black chrome thing didnt work out at all. the paint was garbage so I stripped it repolished the chrome and added some custom touches. Also my new tail lights fitment was garbage so I trimmed and reshaped the back down where it met the body.
Now they sit completely flush with the body like factory. I also added led reverse lights to match all the other led lighting Ive added. Enjoy the pics I have. More to come soon.

So the black chrome didn't work so I stripped the grill back to chrome. Taped off the chrome and resorted the vents gloss black and the lower part of the grill where it meets the bumper. Could never get my hand I. There to clean the chrome. Problem s photo 1926756_627527244002269_304201475617388406_n.jpg

Grill came out really good I'm happy with it for now. photo 10014606_627776733977320_7563277901815268456_n.jpg

Grill is back on with smoked turns and new chrome eyelids. Looking classic. #s10 #thelocalthirteenshoptruck photo 10150705_627783290643331_5026035866998166843_n.jpg

            • Looking good. keep it up, always wanted to do the round headlight conversion myself.

I ended up picking up that 87 s10 I mentioned last september, and its your fault. Have lots of ideas for it, but at the time just driving and enjoying all its character. Step one will be bring it down outa the sky!

              • I was looking for your truck at Fresh Meet yesterday, didn't see it around. Pretty solid meet, not many trucks though, maybe I'll see you at another meet

Haha actually none that's just the hub painted up and went and got new oem s10 hub grease caps at your local auto zone for like $5 a pop and polished them up a bit. I'd like to machine some actual covers eventually I dont think I really like how far the plastic ones stick out

                      • Yeah I've got a laundry list of things to do before h2o, my wheels aren't done I want to flush mount my bumpers, repaint my front end, build some classy wooden bed rails, and of course more low. However my truck is not nearly as minty as yours so no shame in dragging it to a show looking a mess

                        • Im the same way, Im a lot lower now since I went smaller tires in front and in the back but i don't want to show off the GTA's yet!

                            • Damn Its been I minute since Ive had a chance to update the build. Ive been busting my ass at work and selling a ton of my art. Saving every penny and parting with any thing I own that I really dont need. Thank you craigslist! Ive been saying for a while now I planned to bag this truck to achieve that ridiculous low stance Im known for. With a limited budget and tons of resources I knew when it was the right time things would fall into place. In random convorsations with my friends I would mention if they had spare air ride stuff they wanted to part with let me know. I figured I would just collect parts here and there like I did during my last build. Word was slowly spreading around and people seamed really excited to see where this was gonna go. First thing I accuired was some paddle valves and a bag of left over PTC fittings from my homie Dave Bruno. He owns the SLAW built Green Mk3. We had both come up in the vw game together and he was super stoked to see me get started. With the first part in hand I was now extremely driven. The word has also gotten around that I had aquired some parts and was hunting.
Matt Morrison, owner of EUROKRAFT,great friend of mine, and life saver on more then one occasion. Contacted me next. "hey man I have a little 3gallon tank down here and your old gauges and compressor from your MK3. Come get them out of my shed." I couldnt believe it. I was gonna have some parts from my beloved Mk3 in my truck!!
Later that week I get a text from the guy who bought my old management from my mk3. "Wanna buy your valve rails back?........How about your switch box too?" He had decided to go to a manifold and no longer wanted or needed my old school valve rails or switch box. This was unreal. These parts are all very sentimental to me. If you've been following this build, you know what Ive been through and how much I loved my Mk3.

In the weeks after I started collecting everything else I wanted and needed.I took some time mapping out how I wanted to do this install. I had a few meetings with Matt Haggard at Haggard Fab to get ideas and suggestions since hes been building unreal feature trucks for many years now.

My goal is a Minimal daily driven useable airride set up. Ive decided this entire air ride set up will be done in stages. Stage one will be tank and compressor behind front seat along with the valve rails. Ive know it will be slightly loud with the compressor in the cab. I ordered a compressor silencer mounting bracket from airlift to help control that. The valve rails will supply air to my RE7 front bags and my already installed rear air shocks, Giving me full control of the ride height. In order to get the front to sit where I want some cutting will have to be done. Inner fender shields removed and fender supports cut. I purchased a smaller universal washer tank so it can be relocated along with a catch can to replace the coolant overflow bottle. On s10's they are mounted directly over the wheels. Even at my current ride height Ive given them quite the beating. Gauges are all wired together and will be installed on the lower shelf of the dash. The only other thing phase 1 will recieve is a rear throbros bolt on frame notch.
I am very particular about not wanting to cut my bed. I use this truck to move my art and projects and refuse to lose that ability. Phase 2 will be a 3link and rear air bag set up all under the bed.

So tomorrow starts the install Ill be photographing everthing and updating soon.
