I know exactly what you means man, the detail and hardship that were put into these vehicles is amazing in comparison to the fragility of today's carbon fiber and fiberglass vehicles.

For me its all in the details. I love all the classic lines and chrome and rust on the older cars and trucks. Its character. Its what gives the car a personality and tells its story. They don't make cars like that any more. These photos are what I see when I look at a car or truck.

Set back plates may or may not have worked. Trans is screwed. Rebuild has begun.
Snagged a few shots over the weekend

Erich. You can use a palm sander or dremil tool for the heavy rash. You need to hit it with the aircraft stripper first to remove all the clear coat. Ill hit it with the stripper and get a wheel brush and some aluminum wheel cleaner from pep boys. After the stripper has done its magic little lap dance all over the wheel, I hose it off and start using the brush to remove all the stripper. Let it dry and do it again. Usually 2 or 3 times works to get it all. Then start with the grinding making sure to follow the shape of the lip. Then sand, sand and sand some more. Don't for get during this part........beer or a little herb and some good tunes helps alot. The more sanding you do the less polishing you have to do in the end and the better the finish will look. I just use wax on my lips to protect them and it allows me to repolish them when I feel necessary. You can choose to clear coat them for a more permanent result if your happy with the outcome. Hope that helps, Cheers.

    Hey Local,

What did you do for fixing up your wheels. Im trying to restore mine because they have bad curve rash. So far I've just been going at it with 80 Grit paper and working up, everything by hand too. Did you use any tools for this?

I'm also afraid of putting that aircraft remover on it because I did it last time on my swirls and I had some left on for a while and it started eating the rims and it came out like crap.

Ok update.......I just came across axle relocation plates. What they do is go on just like the drop blocks but are set back a half inch. They are used mostly for v8 swaps so you don't need to shorten the drive shaft. After much debate Im gonna order a set to see if that solves my trans problem. If it does Im back in action!!!! Fingers crossed for me guys.

That seems to be what keeps destroying my transmissions. At this point Im fully frustrated. Im just gonna have to knuckle down, sell some art and extra stuff I have and scrounge some money together. I know this truck is worth building and doing it right. This is all just a real big kick to the nuts right now. This to shall pass and I will end up with an awesome truck.
