Well i finally got started on the reps/ghetto redo. I bought the keskins super cheap with full intentions of painting them to loose the bling.

    1: they are reps.
2: even so, they are too flashy for my motor/suspension build. (for me.

Removed the fake bolts and got to work.

    Resulting in:

Then a days dry time, remask, tackle the centers, and install better fake bolts (for safety)
    Resulting in:

They look nice and terrible, like the rest of the car. Itll do for a year, while the other wheels are being "sourced"

Ordered some new center cap decals to spice it up even more rep...

Hopefully this weekend ill get the other three done since Im satisfied with the outcome. Spacers should be in as well to dial in the fitment.
Then adjust the ride height about 3/4" if my maths were correct.

I like the dedication but I don't know, I feel that if this was truly a "go fast poor man's build from the late 80's" there would be a lot more go-fast bits and ingenuity in here. Maybe it's coming though.

          Thusly, I shall stay tuned.

go fast bits eh? like turbos? superchargers? Thought I was clear in the description about not being able to afford an M5 in 1988, so this is what a "poor" man would do to be comparable... Its not a 1980s car build to todays standards...

More ingenuity? Fantastic suspension, m5 parts, grey market motors, etc isn't good enough for the stance works crew.... I'm fine with that.

Its a build. Therefore there is obviously more coming. Thanks for staying tuned. Yet, I'm hurt on the inside.

Anywho, while I was changing the fluids a couple of weeks ago, had her on the lift and noticed my oil pan was oddly close to the subframe...

Looked to the left... gasp. Looked to the right... gasp.

Motor mounts were in a state of lets say, dead.

Made a call to Ireland Engineering and 5 days later:
Two new motor mounts and poly trans mounts. Thank heavens....

              Made a world of difference.

Thanks man! I obviously have a quite a few boxes on my checklist to attack, but budgets suck. However, it will never not be worked on.

ive been busy with all kinds of crap that keeps me away from this thread, but i have a few random updates/pictures.

The Keskins came off. I **** the color scheme. Yet, I dont have the patience to strip them and redo them with the cold weather. Maybe this spring. I still think I would like some Style 4s on the car more than anything. (So if you know of any, pass along the info for me).

I did however refresh the wheels from the 850. They came out pretty nice and Ill rock them for the time being. Also installed some Hellas. Unfortunately, thats about it.

I was having a hard time finding a 535is spoiler locally. And all of the ones for sale are worth their weight in gold apparently. So one day at the yard, something caught my eye. I thought there was no way it would work, but for $20, it would be worth a shot. Its a stock spoiler from an Infinity M30, you know, those hideous convertables from the early 90s. I think they came in a hard top as well. But after some texture to match the bumper and front duck bill, it actually fit decently. Lifts a little in the front, but is stable and doesnt look half bad. Esp for the price!

Near future plans are for a set of wheels that I will be happy with for more than 6 months, and start to work on the drivers cockpit. Id like a new seat and steering wheel. Ill try not to be soo lazy with the thread from now on....

Well its been a while. Laid off from work a while back, so money had to go elsewhere. Back in the swing of things and looking forward to a good spring and getting some things done on the car.

I finally got a set of wheels that I like. Never thought I would like white on white, but hey, its growing on me. Going to get some spacers to dial in the "stance" I guess. Then maybe work towards some coilovers since I refuse to cut a bunch of coils.

I also redid the parcel shelf in the sterotypical plaid.
