You should probably check your facts homie. I smashed my rocker panel when my car was on lowering springs. Cause i was being an idiot. Its nearly impossible to hit rocker panel if you're paying some attention.

Yeah ive never hit my rockers on anything, nor my skirts,my drivers side has a crunch from being jacked up in the wrong spot..and ive never noticed anything on pavels ride?

Yes sir...however they are modified..helper springs in front are cut shorter, also the fronts have the bottom sleeves trimmed shorter..regular JOM's will still give you about an ink pen of wheel gap when cranked all the way down and sitting on the bumpstops, reason i trimmed the sleeves was so the whole coilover can sit lower in the hub, opening the assembly up and giving me suspension travel..the ride is very smooth, i will never buy more expensive coilovers..i dont see the point..these are great!

Also the vid i posted very early in this thread, shows the car driving before i trimmed the sleeves, when the front was just sitting on bumpstops, so plz dont refer to that as my ride quality

ahh i see so the bottom sleeve that sits on the hub was modded? i did a similar mod when i had my e36 so im familiar with doing these things for lower riding. although i modded both the helper spring and the top hats. thinking of doing the same with the e39. clean set up though love your car *(its my phone background....stalker status lol)*

And yeah on the jom's unlike the factory front coilover, there is a blue metal sleeve that slides over the bottom of the shock body, this sleeve prevents the coilover from falling through the bigger OEM hub hole...so by trimming this sleeve in half..i was able to get the whole setup to sit about an inch lower just by doing that, and about another inch or so by cutting the helpers

Now if i wanted to, i could crank it down to where literally the frame rests on the ground if i wanted..but thats not practical, ohh and i had to make custom lengthed bumpstops so that the car would bottom out on the suspension before the frame hits the ground..so there was alot of measuring to do to get it all working correctly

Thats awesome man, yeah the e39 sorta needs to be broken in to get that low..like all plastics need to be removed and tye frame rails need to be bashed down to gain proper lows haha..my frame rails have been flattened down a whole half inch already..gave me the clearance i needed

Little update, ditched the DEPO's for some OEM headlights off an 01'e39...in thrashed condition but I can do magic with a series of sandpapers and a buffer..

How i got them..

Sanded away oxidation layer and pitts with 500 grit..


Magic complete after 800, 2000, and 3000 grit papers followed by polish and wax

Small update..

So after refinishing the headlight lenses, they looked great! But still something was hindering the lenses from being totally clear..so upon opening the lights up, i discovered every internal component of the lights were covered in a foggy "film" like substance..

Here is the projector lens as it appeared fresh out of the light, and here is me wiping the film off with a dry microfiber towel..

Now keep in mind this same film you see is not only on the outside of the projector lens, but also on the inner side, aswell as the inside of the outter plastic headlight lens, so in total, the headlight beam was beaing hindered by 3 film covered surfaces! Long story short, i wiped the film off easily like it was dust on a table..anyone else who attempts this (never use chemicals to wipe headlight chrome) it os very delicate and will wipe away! Just use a dry microfiber towel..HOWEVER!...on the inside of the plastic headlight lens, i did use some wax to get the film off..the dry mirofiber wasnt quite removing it..

Now pictures wont show the difference but in person you can clearly see that by removing all this film, the lights literally look brand new..they arent even 1% foggy or faded..and i can almost guarantee these are one of the cleanest set of lights out there, since every headlight by now will have accumilated the "film" on the inside..the film is caused by all the new plastics releasing chemical fumes inside the trapped headlight...much like how a new car has that "new car smell"..you are smelling the chemicals released by the new plastics in the car..same applies to the interior of the headlights, with the exception that a car interior can "breathe" out the fumes by the doors always opening and closing

I stongly urge you other e39 owners to consider opening your lights and cleaning them, makes a world of difference and the brightness of the headlights
