  • E36 Touring

Hey guys. Names Barry, from Ireland. Usually a big vw/audi guy. But went looking for something a bit different this time.Previous cars have been a mk3 polo gt,1.6gtd b3 passat, A4 B5 tdi and my latest has been a 2l 16v corrado to name a few.

Needed something diesel as the corrado was getting a whopping 23 mpg..
All the diesel vws of this age are very over priced in Ireland and needed something reliable and big enough to carry the surfboards,so snapped this up for a bargain price off a local the other day.

    1997 318 tds touring
    Artic silver
    210k miles
    sunroof
    alloys

Fairly basic spec, but hopefully not for long. Its gonna need a lot of work as its far from perfect but it'l be my daily driver. My 10th car but my first Bmw so hopefully learn plenty along the way. The standard of E36's on here would put most people to shame myself included. This will just be a cool daily for going surfing, so don't expect anything too spectacular, having said that it should be pretty nice when finished. Onto the pics:

    Inspiration:

    and my corrado:

Bm's not the best looking but it'l get there. I'l have more pics in a few.

    Sprayed some stuff,and the lawn.

    Gave it a wash

    new bumper on

Got myself a new steering wheel. More pics of that later.

Then onto wheels. Wanted 17's preferably style 32's but I also wanted to try something different, and being a student it needed to be cheap. Que E38 basketweaves.

16x8 ET20 Currently have some 205/55/16's on there but i'm gonna get some 205/50/16's instead. The rears sit lovely and the wheels came with all centre caps.

Just need to get it low now.

Ohhh, I'm flattered you use my car as inspiration!

Looks like you're taking good care of yours! Those E38 basket weaves fit really well, gives ot a very clean OEM+ look.

And I envy you for that scenery! Damn, I must visit Ireland!

Haha, thank you. I was sorely tempted to spray them a crazy colour like orange/candy apple red but I wanted to keep it looking OEM as you said. And yes, especially for photos its great. If you like that type of scenery you'd love it here

Got a new addition the other day. Can monitor my boost now, which should help with some other modifications I have planned.Trimmed a few plastics and got it fitted and with a backlight as well. Also ordered new lower ball joints and arb bushes. Trying to fix the little things bit by bit. Thanks for looking.
