Alright so little catch up, decided to drive the 2002 to Sowo which is 15 hrs one way. Car was ready to go with a rebuilt shifter but then I started having cooling issues.... just two days before I left. Luckily my dad had his 69 around and I robbed a few things off of it. The culprits were a bad sensor and bad thermostat which was frustrating due to the fact they were the two newest parts in the whole cooling system... both came from Bavauto so I'll be taking my money else where in the future.
But everything worked out and made the roughly 1900 mile round trip to Sowo, car went well, burnt a tag bit of oil, probably just weak valve guide seals but it wasn't even enough to worry about. I was actually on the fence about selling the car but after going to sowo and seeing some beautiful old cars I just had to see this build through.
I wasn't too happy with how the floor looked in the car as it looked cheap so I found a guy salvaging an old house that was selling 100 yr old wood flooring and I jumped all over it. I'll be completely redoing the wood and staining to match the steering wheel.
Laying things out over my old one
getting the flooring all glued together
Right now I'm waiting for the back board to dry and then I'll start trimming off the edges.
A spot on the car that has always bothered me was the bottom of the driver door, a spot of surface rust was there plus it had been creased along the way at some point.
My dad parted out a 2002 last year and set aside a driver door for me so I finally went up and grabbed it. so far did some sanding and then laid down some primer, most of the dings have come out of the paint already so getting it straight should be an easy process. I'll also be removing the black trim that is at knee level.

Awesome! I am glad you are keeping it. Deleting the mid trim is good a idea, I think it gives the car a cleaner look.

Last night managed to sand all the edges down and stain the wood that I'm hoping will be similar to the wheel I have.

Courtney Cutchen shot the 2002 at sowo and the shots just went live over on Condukt with a little write up from me. Here are just a couple of the shots.
Got the car back home after having it at my parents waiting for a sensor and thermostat and the first thing I did was got the floor in the trunk and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The black trim has been driving me crazy since sowo so tonight I popped it off and will start cleaning up the body tomorrow
Also will be chipping away at cleaning the bay up getting it ready to respray for Sowo next year, since I'm in Missouri I won't be getting to too many events this year.

Played around today, finally removed the ac compressor that wasn't hooked up. Heavy bastard too so it was good to get it out of there plus clean the bay out some.
Next up was cleaning up where the black trim was, hit a speed bump as they didn't pull the trim when the car was repainted... just taped around it.
Lastly got back to the door, also drilled holes for the triumph mirror I've had sitting around for awhile.
