I'm fine with plain. Red wheels on an old red truck ain't gonna fly with me. These aren't permanent anyways. I had the same wheels in red on my S10 for a few months so a bit of change will do me good.

    You cheeky devil.

Anyways, this is why my local friends rule.

Along with my crossmember being lasered for this weekend, there's no reason for the truck not to be 4-linked by Sunday.

I also got the second set of 60's vette rally's that I've ever owned, this set is immaculate. I will likely be painting the rim itself black, and running large whitewalls. Come at me.

    Thanks, fellas!

Not a lot of physical evidence of progress over this weekend, however, it was a good one. We got the 4-link crossmember measured, designed and ready to be lasered. It is going to be wild and a giant pain in the ass to build. All 4 link bars will be sunk into the crossmember, the bolts will be hidden, it's a bit silly. I'll have all the pieces Friday, which means there is no reason why the truck won't be 4-linked (providing crossmember assembly goes well) next weekend.

Saturday night was pretty laid back, I TIG'd up this little battery box in the factory location, Need to come up with a crafty tie-down yet, but that can wait. We also stole Dan's fuel cell and kinda mocked up the rear end setup. I really like the air tank location. I think we'll end up building a fuel cell to fit, I also want to be able to factor in space for an inline fuel pump and all the necessary evap stuff for when I go LSx.

There probably won't be much going on this week with New Years and all, which I will definitely be making up for this weekend. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Today's casual racist comment has been brought to you by the letter 4.

Because N would just be in poor taste.
Just busted out laughing, thanks for that!

One-piece. I know where you're going with this. That factory crossmember is coming out once the 4-link member is built and installed. It is there for now just to tie the frame rails together and add some extra support while things are being added and removed.

For the record, I should note that that is a 25.5" tire, I'll be running a 29.1" tire to start (255/70/15). Ride height was set for the running board mounts to be 3/4" off the ground. I'm not sure how much lower the running boards themselves hang, but I figure they'll wind up somewhere around 1/2" off the ground at ride height.

    You guys are silly.

Minor update, fucked away a lot of time last night. We pulled pretty much two straight all-nighters. I've had 4.5 hours of sleep since Saturday. Last night did not go well. We located the rear axle at ride height to allow us to figure out where the maximum drive shaft height will be while laid out, and from there we could design the 4-link crossmember and 4-link itself.

My brain was basically shut off most of the night, so it took far longer to get the pinion angle/wheelbase/ride height set than it should ever. We got it done, though.

    Ta-da

We spent quite a while designing a front crossmember, but again, lack of sleep was a severe factor and it seemed no matter what we drew up it looked stupid in the truck. The next few days over Christmas will allow the sleep to be caught up and we'll go at it with fresh minds Thursday.
