    More progress today...

    Sanded down all the primer.

Then got some paint down, I made a mistake with the activator mix, so ended up having to double the amount of paint I was going to use. So went ahead and painting the mani black. I'm so glad I did, it looks so sick.

The finish on the gearbox isn't amazing because the horrible metal spits and things that I didn't grind down, but never mind, it's a hell of a lot better than it was, definitely worth the extra time.

Then painted the brake servo, came out alright, didn't flat it down enough really, but it's not ging to be that noticeable, especially once theres a master cylinder and fluid bottle infront of it, and it will blend in with the bulkhead.

I'll mate the engine and gearbox tomorrow and get it in. Then start sorting out what I need to do with the looms and order parts etc. Pretty stressed about that, I have a feeling it's going to break me...

Just finished the primer on the gearbox, manifold and brake servo. It's peeing it down here, I'm slightly worried it might have been to damp.
Everything looks okay at the moment, the gearbox was really rough and looked like it had bits of metal spat at it or something haha, and I'm regretting not sanding them down now, but we'll see how it is tomorrow. At the end of the day it is only a gearbox, I shouldn't worry too much.

Had a slight set back today, I have to wait for the paint shop to get a stock delivery before I can get hold of the primer etc. that I need for the g'box, mani and servo.
I was hoping to get the gearbox and engine back together and in the car so I can plan my loom modifications by Thursday, now it looks more likely to be Friday. I'm not entirely sure what else I can get on with. I may have to get a start on the E30 bodywork or something.

Got the gearbox relatively paint/grease free. Need to get the primer next week so I can paint this lump.

Started having a go at cleaning up my rusty as hell brake servo. Ground it back as much as I was comfortable with (more than in this pic) and its still pretty pitted from the rust. The primer should fill that up though. Not too bothered with how long it last as it will be upgraded eventually anyway.

Definitely decided that the gearbox is going gloss black, and the intake manifold and brake servo are going silver.

Started cleaning the gearbox up. Ughh it's going to take ages to clean up. Anyone have a quick way to get this horrible old paint off and ready for primer? I decided its just going to go gloss black, much easier for me I think. Then the manifold and brake servo are going silver.

I have a few good ideas to make the manifold/throttle body look a lot better/tidier, but I need to get the engine in now, I have a spare one so I will use that for my ideas.

Heres the horrible little dent I've acquired... It's not too bad really, but its just so annoying that I've spent this much time on bodywork and when I finish, this happens.

    IMG_6224

Everything nearly back together, just waiting on the alternator and a few other parts to dry before I bolt them on.

Then I need to sort out this gearbox. Still undecided on what colour, I have black and silver/grey. And not sure about the manifold either. Still need to get some primer before I get too carried away though. I wanted to get some today but I've run out of time to get there.

Oh God it tests your patience! feel like I could do it in quarter of the time next time round though haha.

Thank you, pretty pleased with it, never done anything like this before, learnt everything on the car basically.

I will put effort into the E30 soon, but I need to get my Golf on the road first really. The E30 is to sell on really, just wanted to practice spraying and get a bit of money out of it at the end.
sunroof means less space to deal with the dent too.

I've never blended paint or anything before, and I can't afford and don't have the time to respray the whole roof right now. Some help with how I could fix it a quicker way would be great. It won't pull out very easily I don't think. I could have a go at beating it out but I'll probably end up making it worse.
