  • 1991 GMC Sierra

Hey everyone, just thought i'd stop by and post a few pictures of my build-in-progress. The truck is a 1991 ext. cab sierra. Bought the truck last year with 130,000 original KM on the odometer. Truck came from an old farmer in Cambridge, Ontario. Truck was rarely driven and almost never saw the roads in the winter. The undercarriage was (is) an oily mess as the guy oil sprayed it himself every year with good ol' 10w30 motor oil. It worked though as there isnt a speck of rust anywhere on the truck.

Heres how she sits right now:

Heres how it looked when I bought it last year (photo taken at Vanfest 2012)

    Interior was spotless as well:

Started buying parts for when I put the truck away for winter and started on it as soon as i could. Wasn't really comfortable with a bolt-in notch so i decided to weld it in and plug welded the bolt holes. Also decided to box in the back of the notch with a piece of 1/4" x 5" flatbar for a little extra strength.

As for wheels, i didnt want to do anything flashy. Heres how it looked on the stock 15s:

I really like how it sits now on the 15" x 8" Corvette Rally replicas, but was thinking about finding a set of 18" or 20" Mobsteel steel wheels and painting them either white or gunmetal grey:

Right now im looking for an engine... Hopefully a GM Crate 350. Would also consider a 454 though. Maybe an extra inch or two lower. Still waiting to see how the springs settle in the front.

Damn that things in great shape. I'm gay for trucks, so I'm interested in this.
The only thing lower than my standards is my truck.

Awesome! I have been looking for an older 1500 to daily/drop. This looks good. Except I know if I got one I would have to drop a 6.0 lq motor in it and turbo it for an easy 900 rwhp.

Ha! Would be great but my real dream is either a 1960-66 or a 1967-72. Just gonna do a mild build on this to hold me over until i get a big enough garage/enough time to build one and go all out on it.

I also kind of want to add a cap on the back. I dig the old man look, especially if its got a motor to back it up:
