Hello everyone, first post here. I hope its an interesting one!
First of all, a story.
It's Sunday afternoon, around 2:00, and my girlfriend is quite bored. I'll be driving her home to her place across town in a little while. Our typical Sunday routine. I'm a bit sullen, I'm not going to lie. She has mentioned recently that she wished we did more spontaneous things: that we, sometimes, would just throw our hands in the air and scream. Go skinny dipping. Whatever.
So I seized the day, pretty much, and striking out in my very adventurous daily driver, a purple 1995 Geo Metro LSi (that's the high performance model), I turned left instead of turning our very normal right. We drove for a long while, through the hills, through the dense British Columbian forest, through craggy, snow-capped mountain peaks. It was a nice drive, and after what seemed a day's journey, we came to a stop.
The dust settled, and we found ourselves in the rather post-apocalyptic town of Merritt, British Columbia. I'm sure you've heard of it. Here's what we saw:

We wandered for a few moments in a daze. Our ears were buzzing from the 4,000 rpm, nearly 100 km/h mountain touge thrashing we just gave the Metro. Around the corner, though, laying derelict and unloved, was quite the curious vehicle.
Now, a little background on myself. Maybe this will explain a bit why I could possibly convince myself to do this. True Romance is one of my favorite movies. When I first saw it, I fell in love with Lee Donowitz's slantnose Porsche 911. This one:

I'm not sure what model it is exactly. I'm not a huge Porsche guy, never really have been. Except for the slantnose. In white. Unlike the film, mine would have a matching white leather interior. White rims. The cocaine special. Of course, this is a very expensive car. Decent examples of the slantnose are few and far between, and usually command at least a 30 grand price tag. One day, right?
WRONG. For around the corner of that dusty gulch of a gas station, there it was..my dream car...

Wait a minute...it looks off, doesn't it? Yeah, it's a Porsche 914 with a slantnose body kit. Not quite my dream car, but as close as I will get anytime soon. So I asked around, found the guy who owned the abandoned hunk of 80's excess and offered him my half of June's rent. And now I own it!
I apologize for the bad pictures. We stumbled on this thing about two and a half hours from my home and all we had were cellphones. I'm going back to tow it soon, though, and then I'll update.
It's a 1974- we think. The engine is the 2.0 liter, but hasn't lived in nearly a decade. Every panel needs to be straightened. The paint isn't bad though, and the whole kit is in good shape. I've done a bit of google'ing on it, and though the kit doesn't seem too rare, this particular one does. It's a 'limited edition' of the 'Chalon' slantnose/widebody kit. The raised 'porsche' lettering along the side of the kit doesn't appear on any others I've seen. Despite being very tacky and dated, the craftsmanship doesn't seem too bad.
Now, as far as plans go, I'm not sure. I think I'll tear down as much of it as I can and put it back together nicely. Get those wheels refinished. I'm not sure what they are (forgot to look closely, duh!) but they certainly have some dish. One of them has an odd attachment like you see on wire wheels.
I'll be looking into an engine swap, too. We'll see about that. Moral of the story: be spontaneous!
