Ive been following the saturn junkyard build for a little while now so decided i will start me one. I have a 1993 Saturn Sl1, this is the second saturn ive owned my first car was a 2001 SC2. Ive went with the honda game for a little while i had a boosted d15b7 coupe nothing fancy just stock on 8 psi, loved it but ive decided i like the reaction from ppl when you have something different. Shes no where near complete nor will she be for a long time this is def a budget build so this thread will be around for a while lol....
When i first got her
I had two 12 in a sealed box so the first thing i had to do was get a ported box. Found one local for $15 so i couldnt pass it up.
Next was to replace the speakers in the rear deck so for christmas my parents got me kicker 6.5. I was very pleased with how clear these were, im still needing to replaced my door speakers but they still work so not in to big of a hurry.
Everything in the trunk rattled and I dont have the money for true dynamat so i took a cheaper route. I got roofing insulation and insulated the trunk with gave me a great increase in bass clarity and significally reduced the rattle. I put it on the whole bottom side and where the spare tire is, the bottom of rear deck, sides of the trunk, underside of the trunk lid, and put some behind the license plate. Most of this is covered up the only place u can see it is the underside of the trunk lid
I wanted to get some wheels i havent seen around here in a while so i went with str 503 which is basically a xxr513, but a week after i put them on i seen a camry in my apartments with the xxr
. I went with a 15x7.5 with a +10 offset all the way around and 195/50, kinda wish i would have went with 175 for a little stretch.
Ordered some cheap pos ebay universal coilovers which did good on the rear but with the adjusters taken out of the front it was still sitting up at stock height
When the front was jacked up it scared me bc i had a very bad "mexipoke".
Decided to cut the front springs to drop the front and luckily brought the wheel in a bunch. My next thing is to get new oem struts and springs all the way around and cut all of them ive heard many people talk about how bad it rides but ive had multiple cars with cut springs and have rode in multiple cars with cut springs and ive had no arguements about the ride quality.
Havent been able to do anything else recently but i have a bunch of plans just gonna have to wait on the funds. Sorry for the pic quality all of these are from a pos camera phone.
Back needs to be lower but trying to wait til i get new struts and springs, and also need spacers
