As for the breaks... pretty good. OEM 16V brake setup is a bit bigger and have vented rotors opposed to solid rotors on 8v cars. Also has rear discs from the factory. I replaced the rotors and pads all around and bled them and they seem to work pretty well.
Yeah the pic is from UD 2011 I think. Same idea you appear to be going in the direction of: smooth and clean.
I had the pansy 8v brakes that would be suitable on a bicycle, 16v appear much more robust. Keep up the good work, carry on

I thought that's what I was buying at Walmart earlier but I guess I didn't look at the can hard enough. Tried to strip the clear off the lips using some Klean Strip paint stripper I found at wal mart. Shit is terrible, so threw away $20 there
Any recommendations on effective brush-on paint strippers that can be bought at local stores?
Also just tracked down some 1.5" lips for the rears. Thinking about doing 7 & 7.5" stagger w/ 165/45 Federals.

I like your tail lights, they look so much better smooth and help bring the rear end more up to date. I never thought to do that. How are your brakes? That was my biggest gripe

Thanks for the comments everyone. I've lost steam on this project many times over the years but I'm glad I never gave up on it.

I may have seen that gray one you're referring to. There's only a few cars that have been inspiring to me, everything else is either stock or stuck in the 90's.
This car is my main inspiration ever since I saw it in '08. 16V supercharged with shaved body kit, shaved hatch, shaved tail lights, smoothed bumpers, etc etc. It has the look I'm going for but I plan on lowering mine a bit more and running 15's (plus my car will be red).


Has my old Compomotive TH Mono's in these pics. I traded him for some BCW Powertechs (15x8 & 9) which I regret getting rid of. However if I still had them I'd be one step closer to having an identical car
About to go strip the 1" lips from the RS's and get to polishing. Also ordered some of this stuff last night (for the 001 centers):

On sale... heard it works pretty well... too poor for powdercoating... etc etc. Seems like a pretty good option and I know Eastwood makes quality stuff.

Well done with the scirocco man, they're a hard car to love. I had one and sold it on rather than try to get into what you're at - you've good stating power to keep with it this long. Or maybe you're just stubborn! There's a really nice MKII in England, it's grey and has the wing gone from the boot lid - might be good inspiration for you.
