  • Kieron's Wannabe VZ-R

    Hey guys,

I joined a few months back and decided to introduce myself just of now.
I currently drive a 1999 Nissan N15 Pulsar SSS. The main goal was to build a car to look very much like the JN15 VZ-R Pulsar (3-door Japanese model) and to improve its handling characteristics as much as I could.

    Engine
    - Tomei Poncams (apparently)
    - 2.5" Catback Exhaust with dump pipe muffler and resonator
    - Custom Extractors (4-2-1)
    - Dodgey CAI with K&N panel filter
    - NGK Spark Plug Leads
    - NGL Spark Plugs BKR6EIX-11

    Exterior:
    - Autech/SR-V Grille
    - Autech Indicators
    - VZ-R Taillights
    - VZ-R Lip (sold, but awaiting a new one)
    - VZ-R Crystal Fog Lights
    - TeamHEKO Weathershields (5 piece set)

    Interior:
    - Nismo Leather Gear Knob (lol again, failed to update you guys)
    - "To Suit NISSAN Pulsar" Floormats (from Autobahn)
    - Black ASD Seat Covers
    - Recaro SR3 + Bride RO-Type Rails
    - Dashmat
    - Universal DIN cup holders
    - JDM Fascia with cupholders and coin holder

    Sound:
    - Clarion VZ401A DVD Player
    - Pioneer 12 inch Subwoofer
    - Kenwood KAC-6203
    - 4x Pioneer 220watts TS-A1671S

    Wheels:
    - 16"x7" Advanti Maze-R black with red lip (****.)

    Suspension:
    - Yellowspeed Dynamic Pro Sport coilovers with redesigned rears
    - JDM VZR Rear body brace
    - Whiteline Adjustable 20mm Rear Sway Bar
    - eBay rear strut brace

    Other
    - Nistune ECU on stock settings (another apparently)

    Plans:
    - Source passenger Recaro SR3 (must match)
    - Waiting for my brand new VZ-R lip to come in
    - VZ-R rear pods
    - Paint my Almera P2 side skirts
    - Possibly a hydraulic clutch system conversion

    My journey started with this:

It was my humble Nissan Pulsar N16 2001 (S1) hatch. It was an automatic, which I *****, but it was mine. This was my first car, which I passed the Driver's Test with.

It is greatly missed, but the past is the past and I must move on to better things.
The N16 was sold on 17/02/12

On 19/02/12 (yes, two days later) I purchased this:
(NOTE: the following photos came off the CarSales ad. Saved em before it was taken down)

And look what engine it was! The famous SR20DE (not 'T' lol). This is my first SR engine and from the first day, I was loving it!

I had bought the car with the following:

    Motor:
    Tomei Poncams
2.5" Catback Exhaust with dump pipe muffler and resonator (have original muffler)
    Custom Extractors
    CAI with K&N panel filter
    NGK Spark Plug Leads
    NGL Spark Plugs BKR6EIX-11

    Exterior:
JDM 2 Slat grille (have original)
JDM Autech Orange Indicators (have original)
    JDM VZR Taillights
    Clear side indicators

    Sound:
Sony Headunit with AUX plug and Sub control
    Pioneer 12 inch Subwoofer
    Kenwood KAC-6203
    4x Pioneer 220watts TS-A1671S

    Wheels:
16"x7" Advanti Maze-R black with red lip
    Brand new front tyres
    Rears still 80+% tread

    Suspension:
    King Springs
    Rear Pedders Shocks
    JDM VZR Rear strut brace

    Other:
Nistune ECU (still running on stock settings though)
    Replaced CV's at 164000
New battery put in, in September 11

My dad drove the car home for me, as I wasn't able to drive a manual car.
The first thing I did was debadge the rear Nissan badge, sand down the raised lettering of the rocker cover and mod the rear wiper to sit horizontally.

I paid a visit to Clark Rubber and installed this lip:

I wasn't overly happy with the result, but another lip was waiting for me some few weeks after.

I also purchased some TeamHEKO weathershields from Germany:

A pair of VZ-R crystal fog lights then came on sale on the PGA forum, so I was quick to purchase them. It had come with everything I needed besides the electrical wiring.

Was assisted by Mark from PGA. Okay, so he did most of the work for me... lol!

We hid the wiring as best as we could and as neat as we could with convoluted tubing.

    BAM!

Mark also did some wiring mods on my tail lights! Wooo!! Quad-tail light mod FTW!!

    Some happy-snaps from the day:

I finally acquired a VZ-R lip from a Japanese wrecker. Was not bothered to clean it up though.

And some more happy-snaps when I was waiting for my girlfriend to get ready:

SR-V/Autech grille was put on, as well as new number plates and I also shaved the boot lid garnish. These were later painted.

Then coilovers when in (mate helped again):

    World's best breaker bar innovation:

    Ran into this:

    Fixed!

As you can see, I was assisted by mark from PGA, once again! Had a good feed at maccas afterwards...

    Some snaps a day after:

As you can see, i was too lazy to go upstairs to grab my tripod lol.

Some snaps a few weeks before:

One day after washing my car, I decided to go to the basement car park and well, this happened:

Got to work on that the next day:

But scratched my door in the process

Purchased a JDM fascia! On AUDM N15s, the headunit is mounted where the aircon controls are at the moment and only single din headunits can be used. This enables you to have a double-din dvd player with extras such as: coin holder and cupholders.

AND! I finally got around to ordering my Bride RO-Type rail and mounted my Recaro SR3 in!!!! (Girlfriend bought me the seat as an anniversary present hehehe).

Excuse the photo of the seat. Wasn't bothered to get the DSLR out...

I had finally got my other Recaro SR3 as a Christmas present from the girlfriend (yeah, I'm lucky as fuck) and gave it a quick shampoo:

I soon figured out the seat was a (pretty fucking good) fake, so I sold it but kept the back pump to save some losses.

Snapped up this Whiteline adjustable rear sway bar, brand new for only $175!!! This made the car handle so well! Took the car up to national park and surprised a few guys because they couldnt lose a Pulsar lol, but enough about my street adventures...

20% tints all around by Martin aka TGZ80Y/Ground Zero Tinting

Random photo I took when the girlfriend and I were out and about (missing that damn lip):

Some of you guys will know what this sticker is! Woot FNF FTW!

Also, received my redesigned rear coilover feet from Yellowspeed:

    Old rears were scrubbing:

    Woot! Almera P2 side skirts!

First time replacing a fuel filter:

No idea why I took this photo tbh:

Ah, of course! My clutch fork snapped! (dw guys! got it welded up):

    eBay rear strut brace time!

Was lubing the clutch cable because it was stiff as shit and well, my 10mm spanner decides to slide on the air box and jump into the resonator...

Front bumper had to come off for this:

    Cut this motherfucker (resonator) open:

Detailed the engine bay before the HUGE Top Secret Imports/JDMST Mega Meet:

At the Mega Meet (washed my car, waited in line for 1 hour and 40 minutes to be put in the dark - FFS):

Also, if you were wondering why I had the cardboard cut out from my Bride rails box, it's an inside joke in PGA. I bugged the poor bastards for months about how I could fit an aftermarket seat in. Which path to go (welded rails vs off-shelf rails) and all that noobie non-sense! hahaha.

Thanks for looking guys! Apologies for just a long post!

I think a nice deep five spoke would look good on this. Maybe Equips?

Also, I'm thinking about getting XXR 531s in 16x8 +0 with 195/45R16 Kumho SPTs (KU31):

Photoshopped the wheel with pumped guards. Lol, the shop looks so bad, but I like how the wheel looks on the car:

            Old photo was used, BTW.

            ANY THOUGHTS, GUYS???

                      Got SR4s!

Also, ordered a few brand new VZ-R lips from Nissan Japan. Hosted a group buy for a few people on my home forum.

As a side note, I purchased a second hand Eastwood roller and pumped the front guards out.
I guess it's going to have to be 16x8 +0 for sure then!
