  • My VW BORA (United Kingdom)

Good afternoon ladies and gents. ive been browsing stance works for quite a while now and thought i might upload my thread of my WIP 2001 VW Bora.

I have copied and pasted this whole thread from www.UK-MKIVS.net so please forgive me if there are any loose ends.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello forum users,

I’m new to the VW and VAG seen stepping up from owning a 1996 civic EJ9

Last weekend I bought myself a ’51 plate VW BORS ST TDI PD130.
it has 131,000 miles on the clock and most of the service history. (including 2 cambelts and a water pump)

    17” Audi TT alloy wheels
    Hubcentric spacers
    Coilovers
    Colour coded bumpers and rub-strips
    Black painted headlights
    EGR Blank kit (not fitted)
    Decat
Straight pipe in place of exhaust (mid box still on)
    Golf GTi MK4 interior

    Plans for future.

New wheels, wind the coilovers down a tad, fit EGR blanking kit, HID’s?, double din headunit, wire in my vibe components and pioneer sub.

possible intercooler upgrade, clutch upgrade and re-map.

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome. Off to have a look around.
Well the first modification has arrived in the form of better sounds.

I purchased a Double-Din Pioneer headunit (FH-X700BT) to be wired to a Blaupunkt amp and Pioneer sub I removed from my previous car, all from a local audio specialist and had it all fitted including new amp wiring kit all professionally fitted for a reasonable £225

here is the model I have installed:

With its inbuilt amplifier, the standard VW door speakers and tweeters sound so much better, I don’t think I will even need to upgrade them.
its nice to have some base back in my car though I must admit.

Okay ladies and gentlemen. Been eyeing up a few sets of wheels but wan my bora to look a little bit different from the norm. so I came across a set of wheels that I really like the look of..

    17 INCH WHEELS
GENUINE LAND ROVER/RANGE ROVER PRODUCT WITH ALL STAMPS AND PART NUMBERS TO PROVE AUTHENTICITY!

    ET 53
    5 X 120 PCD
    7J X 17SEH2
    PART NUMBER: RRC0002
    LOAD RATING: 940KG

So I would obviously need some wheel adaptors….

    PCD: 5x100
    C.B: 57.1mm
    TO
    PCD: 5x120
    C.B: 72.6mm

And at a width of 30mm bringing the total offset down to 23.

    What do you guys think?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well many thanks to Simon_1.8T and his rapid response to my request!

heres his quick shop of the landy wheels on my bora:

what you think guys and girls?

So heres some quick pictures of the wheels I picked up today.

not in immaculate condition, few lumps and scrapes and a bit or curbing here and there but im not complaining for the price I paid for them.

Not the greatest pictures in the world I will admit. In my dark garage using my Blackberry mobile phone. May get some better pictures if I decide to give them a spruce up before adaptors arrive.

then I’ve just got to source 20 land rover discovery3 wheel nuts……..

So ladies and gents. What are your thoughts??

    Martin.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay ladies and gentlemen, I have given the landrover wheels a good scrub today and got rid of most of the grease and muck on them.

Here are some pictures in a better light and a few snaps of the small knicks and curbing issue…

let me know what you guys think?

    Slight wheel damage:

Bora side shot after a quick pressure wash (seeing as I was doing the landy wheels……

Had a little go with macromedia fireworks at putting these landrover wheels on my Bora.

I think it turned out okay, looks pretty good I think…..

Only time will tell how the real thing will turn out though I suppose.
FINGERS CROSSED I PULL IT OFF!!

Landrover Discovery3 wheels now on the Bora.
Only 17x7 so a bit small. But wanted to do something that hasn’t been done before.

few pictures for you all to browse (Please excuse the dirty car):

What do you guys and girls think?

My coilovers need winding down a bit more and needs a bit of adjustment to dial it in the stance more. As well as a few cosmetic touches (repaint grille, VW badge, lower bumper grilles, repaint wing mirrors etc)
    and good wash and wax.

Then I think it should be looking rather tidy if I do say so myself.

nice bora! im so jealous of you europeans and your color-matched recaros. not an option in the states and rare as rocking horse shit.

you should shave the fender markers though, since you got rid of the side markers on the bumper / it never came with them.

    also get some wider wheels!

Thanks guys. like stbk said unfortunately we cant do that over here. would look good though i must admit.

The blue recaro's are from a MK4 VW Golf GTi and retro fitted into my bora.

I know the wheels are only 7J but i really like the look of them........ maybe some porsche lobsters will have the same effect.
