  • my custom, oh so low mk2 turbo build

heres my build, custom v8 mk2 cortina. been planing this for about a year now and in that time have been collecting parts and designing bits to start the build.heres the plan.

    custom built chassis,
    custom jag suspension,
    rover v8 engine and gearbox,
    t4 turbo
    22" rear wheels,
    20" front wheels.

thats the build spec, heres some pics.

the front screen has been laid back 4" and the roof chopped to match.been busy designing the chassis and custom front cross member to hold the jag front suspension.

get some more pics on in the next few days to show where i am up to.

it sounds like the wheels would be massive for this. But i will wait and see if you could pull it off.

yes the wheels are big, with the wheels the v8 engine and all the other bits its going to be a tight fit to get it all in.

        heres a few more pics.

3.5 rover v8 with lt77 5 speed box and shortened range rover bell housing with a 650 holly carb which is a pressurised carb to work with the turbo.

        t4 turbo

        and twin 38mm waste gates.
got the frame set on the jig today so should get the rear axle set in position tomorrow.
        more pics as i go.

                  cheers,
                  got the diff plates done.

these are mounted into the frame via slots,

and then they will be welded top and bottom.

                  more over the weekend.

been a long day today but got the rear axle in place, heres how i did it.

aswell as the slots the crossrails were also drilled 25mm.

                    and then welded in,

then got diff bolted in place.

and then mounted the wishbones and hubs.now i have a datum point to mount the engine and front axle.

Question, It seems that you are very capapble with fabrication, why blow through carb? Unless you have previous experience I'd avoid it and go fuel injection.
