At some point in my life, I'm going to regret making a build thread for this thing.
Galvanized is poisonous if you breathe in the fumes.
Be careful with that, and keep up the good work man!
Oh, I know. I weld galvanized at the door with a fan. Don't you worry about me.
Parts came in today, still no coilovers. Got eleventy-billion dollars worth of AN fittings AGAIN (I need to stop this) and my QA1 mounts for the coilovers.
Finished welding the fuel cell tub and got it mocked up. Once the leaf springs are removed and the rear half of the frame is boxed in I'll weld this thing in for good.
It's offset to allow the charcoal canister and vent valve to fit within reason, aswell. A rough mock up.
It is all super tight to the trailer hitch, all fits under the bed, I couldn't be happier. I realize it doesn't look like it, but the edge of the trailer hitch is about 1/4" from the cell tub. TIGHT.
I tossed the front x-member in for a photo-op, as well as tacked in the lower coilover mounts (rough eye-ball again).
Friday the 4-link should really come together, the 220 welder will be here and we can really fire everything together. Hopefully will be driving it home Sunday. I am really excited at this point.
I just went and had a good poop at work, and when I came out QA1's were sitting on my toolbox. So, naturally, I completed ignored what I should've been doing and assembled.
Hows the sizing of those wheels working out for ya? I have a Miata and an S10. I was actually thinking about getting some Diamonds for the truck. Light blue centers, chrome lip, lots of offset. Got some Equips for the Miata

They fit real well, I put a disc brake conversion on the back which spaced them out another 5mm, with the leaf springs and v8 it would squat a lot (that's why the letters have no yellow on the back in a lot of pictures).
Tonight is D-night?... Going to go real hard at it, hopefully get the 4-link done start to finish, I have a few friends swinging by who are no strangers to fab work and have been helping me from the beginning, so we should have no problem doing that. Then over the weekend I can finish up the small stuff like fuel lines and wiring.
In theory (providing everything goes as planned) I'll be posting big, greasy burnout pictures on Sunday.
