At some point in my life, I'm going to regret making a build thread for this thing.
What an interesting proposal. The concept of Sy/Ty motors making their way into other vehicles honestly has previously never occurred to me.
That's because the entire internet has popped a RAGING boner over omgwtfbbqfuckmyassandcallmesandracirclejerktouchmy buttholewithyourtongueLS742314328701027r0122y017e0 gewodboybcyseleventythousands.
V8 swaps have been done in 2nd gens for close to two decades now, and LSs are in everything with more than one wheel. To me, the shit's getting fucking old.
Mix it up, pay homage to the truck's history, and do some awesome shit is my call.

Recently put 4 ball joints in the truck (they were pretty fucked) and an idler arm (it was also pretty fucked. I took pictures, but you don't care.
Ouch my butt:
Yay, new:
Boo, old:
Needless to say, the front end feels 100% tighter (more tight?) and steering is also more gooder. I still need to replace the front shocks but I like to put things off for as long as physically possible with the truck, because the car is still somehow number one.
Unfortunately, now that spring is kinda, sorta here, I'm noticing just how hard winter was on the ol' girl. Oddly, in places that still have paint.
This is the good, yes, I said good, side of the bed:
Cab corner:
I've located a few replacement beds and will likely have one (hoping) for the end of May. Cab corner really isn't that much money and is really easy to replace. The weird part is the rest of the cab is entirely solid.
Now then, next thing. I've had a rear disc-brake swap in hand from The Little Shop of Horrors since before Christmas, and again, haven't gotten around to putting it on. Well, my brakes genuinely squeal and are fucked enough that the whole truck is getting new brakes come Saturday. Really looking forward to that.
