*A lot f the pictures don't work and I don't feel like re editing now so I'll fix it later*
So, I've had my jetta for close to 3 years now and I figured its time to make a build thread/timeline to where it is right now and plenty of future work to come. I'll start off with some background info on it... I came across this jetta on craigslist of course after deciding I was done with my mk2 gti and wanted something else. I had a lot of work and time into that mk2 and figured I could try to trade it for a mk3 vr6. Got a call from a guy with a white 98 jetta glx, mostly stock which is what I really was looking for, so I went to meet up with him and when I got there it was on cut springs and had a rusted hood
and looks like it didn't get much attention, ever. After thinking it over, I was just too excited to get into a mk3 vr6 at that time so I just went for it and we traded the next day. Long story short, this car was the biggest piece of s**t and was never taken care of, and my old mk2 ended being wrecked twice and was ultimately crushed
and I've been fixing the jetta up and getting it to were it is at today and I don't regret anything about it. On to some pictures...
This is the only picture I have of it the day I got it, you cant see the awful hood in this picture or in any other pictures I have of it!

Ditched the hood for this black one I had laying around for temporary use, and also got rid of the curbed long beaches and just put some stock gti wheels on it. This is the worst its ever looked

Found a guy to trade me the long beaches for some driver edition's so it rolled on these for quite a while. Also painted the hood white, threw out the cut springs, replaced A LOT of bushings in the front end and a lot of over due maintenance

Finally got some coilovers on it, raceland... but for the price they did their job

Picked up some factorty glx side skirts and textures door moldings and after a ton more maintenance I was happy with how it drove and ran and I was satisfied how it looked for the time and I drove it around just like this for a good while

First broken pan...

Then put on this ridiculous pan

Picked up some smoked ecodes

And started a shaved bumper

Then picked up this oem early vento grille and waited way to long for it to ship

Then finally started on some long over due body work and paint. There was a decent sized dent on the passenger door that looked like at one point the car slipped off a jack and a softball sized dent in the drivers door. Those dents were fixed, hood was painted and shaved the washer nozzles, bumper was painted, and the door and fender were both painted. Big thanks to my buddy zach and his dad for hooking me up with the body work and paint work!

And when I got it back

Then I figured I should find some wheels for it so I came across these oem mercedes e320 wheels for a couple hundred dollars in great shape. 16x8 et36 and I hadn't seen them on a mk3 before so thought why not

After adapters they final et was 21 up front and 11 in the back and they were wrapped in 195 40 16 yoko s drives which didn't last long. Too soft and they fit like a 205.

Got tired of the factory side skirts falling apart so I got some optikwerks 1 piece side skirts and textured them black. Very happy with the fit after a small amount of trimming and you cant beat the price

Meanwhile my motor started showing some age and with 170k miles on the it the rings started to go bad so I just threw a new motor in it with around 100k miles and I plan on rebuilding it for turbo one day.

Old one out

New one going in

And done

Picked this up at work and thought it would do nicely one day. Holset HX35

basically how the car looks now

As of now, nothing too much has happened with it. Although, I did order some new wheels yesterday so hopefully within the next few weeks I'll have those on and plenty of pictures. I did just get a house so the car has been on hold, just been doing a lot of small stuff to it for now. A lot of future plans for it though (don't think I'll ever be done coming up with ideas) from shave work and new paint to air ride and deciding what motor to put in it so stay tuned for more updates and more pictures.
