  • My x7's life story: LOTS OF PICTURES.

    Hey,

Here is the story of my cressida for the time that I have owned it.

WARNING: THERE WILL BE A TON OF PICTURES! IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT PLEASE DON’T SCROLL ANY FARTHER!!!

    Anyways, on to my story:

First we have to start off pre-cressida. Here was my piece of crap, beat up, garbage 240sx that I got on a terrible trade. The guy flaked so hard on giving me the engine, and 2 transmissions that were apart of the trade. I got this in the Spring semester 2012. I received 2 240sx’s for my 00 civic hatch.

    What I received:

Sold the white one to my friend. Then I did this:

I didn’t care, I wasn’t going to drive around with graffiti on my fenders!

And I did a final photo shoot with my friend after he cleaned up his 240sx:

He cleaned his up a lot better!
The only good part about the whole 240sx Tein Flex that I got for 700$!!

I ended up doing an internship in Okalahoma summer of 2012, so I didn’t drive the 240sx that much. When I got back for school I sold it for 2200$ yeah, someone paid that much for that piece of crap. Great for me though!

Then began the craigslist hunt. I found this ad:

“Rare 1987 Toyota Cressida. Factory 5 speed and Limited Slip Diff. Silver in color. Brand new 5M installed from toyota, Have receipt for $6500. 80,000 on new motor now. I'm the second owner. Bought it from an old man. TEMS, heated mirrors, leather, power sunroof, headlight washers, power seats, AC.... Everything works. All stock except suspension, Lowered with Eibach springs for a MK2 supra. and newer shocks. And enkei 92 14x7 0 offset. I also installed Marlin Crawler trans shifter bushings. Runs good. Bodys straight. Cash only no trades. Only reason I'm selling is I have 9 cars and some of them have to go. Would make a great drift car or clean it up for VIP. Will lower price if I put stock wheel and tires back on. Can text pics of the car. Call or text me anytime but text is better”

I gave him a text and he got back to me instantly. Good thing I text him when I did because he said there were 3 or 4 others that text after me. He was a real chill dude and told me since I got to him first I had first dibs (yay for honest and cool people on craigstlist!!) I went and checked out the car and ended up taking her home with me.

I grabbed a Volvo lip from the local picknpull:

But I ***** it, so I threw the stock lip back on and bought a bike rack to carry my bikes!

Not after too long I felt that the clutch needed replacing, so I just got an oem one, I like to keep it a little luxurious!

Along with the clutch my friend decided to give me some 7mge obxr headers and we fabbed up some ghetto custom exhaust (backyard style). Though I think it sounds pretty good.

Got ride of all that quiet stuff. A 25 year old car, who even needs to pass emissions??

Then we decided to run it open header and got this:

Then I wore the brakes down until it was metal on metal. The worst possible sound, so I decided to replace all the brakes! And while I was at it, decided to chop off another coil up front for “moar low” buahaha!

While replacing the brakes though, this happened:

And also, I had a seized caliper. So I went on CL and found a guy partin gout his 85 cressida. Met up with him, grabbed a caliper and the rear sway bar and put everything back together!

I drove it like that for a while. Cut springs were so bouncy, but hey, anything for the looks right?!

Then Winter came and things became very very very fun! We don’t usually get a lot of snow in Seattle, but when it does come.. well snow dori time!!

Along with some other fun things!!

After winter the car was garaged for a while. I got accepted to an exchange program in South Korea, so I left in Feb. 2012 and arrived back in June 2012. When I got back the car needed a jump, but after that started up every time. I daily drove it that whole summer commuting back and forth to a community college where I took a summer class.

I got into photography in Korea, so hopefully here is where you will see a change in the quality of pictures! Little shameless plug: check out my flickr!

I started up again at my university in the fall and moved all my things again. I got a decent job as a janitor so now I have money to spend on my car. I got so fed up with the cut springs and blown struts……

    So this happened:

After this I got some new wheels to bare the harsh winter rains here in Washington.

But I wasn’t quite content with the way 14x7’s looked, even when the had a 0 offset. So I looked and looked and looked on craigslist.

I had seen gza808’s Cressida and really liked the stance/style he had, so I went about trying to mimic it.

I found some centerline’s 15x8 0 offset with a set of 25mm spacers and tires are 155/60 r15 Kumhos. My roommate helped me do a “baseball bat” fender roll/pull since I am broke, and we ended up fitting the wheels. Then we went out for a little photo shoot since the weather was so nice!

Roommates Rx8. He is now saving up for some coilovers and spacers!

    And my x7:

Ill keep this post updated with pictures as I go. For now the car is where I want it. Ballin' daily. I am just going to enjoy it for the summer and save money. Maybe after a while I might have enough for a swap of some sort, but until then I will drive this 5mge until it is dead!
