  • A Pontiac?

Been a lurker on here for a couple of months and figured I would start a thread, something a little different. I know the other GP guy is around here somewhere, mine is going to be nothing like his though, I can't go slammed lol

Anyways I got my GP 4 years ago

Here is it at the dealer

I think my first mod for this car was an intake to hear the blower, the most fun and decrease of mileage mod I have ever done. After that I did exhaust then a pulley and succeeded in blowing a piston after having the car for a year and a half, ran it with a busted piston for about another year and a half and finally had the funds to replace the motor about a year ago.

I ended up finding 2 pistons like this when I finally popped the heads off. This one was the worst (part of the compression ring was gone) These 3800s are some tough motors

Then here's the new motor, L26 bottom end, L32 heads, 1.84 rockers, ported outlet on the blower, stock pulley. I'm about to go bigger since this one is really limiting me on timing so I'm better off with lower boost.

    Now onto appearance.

This is how it looked after having it for a couple of years, Tinted headlights, tinted tails, some black 17s (I even forget who made these and the details on them), black fasicas, and still sitting on the stock 135K suspension.

Then I found some good priced Eibachs with Koni struts and also wised up to just some black headlights instead of being a ricer (the tires were shorter than stock at the time)

After these tires wore out and being poor I threw the stockers back on and I miss them in a way

Then I found some cheap 18s

As for the fender there that happened when that front passenger wheel decided to separate itself from my car. I only managed to fuck up the fender and wheel bearing, that brings us to today. A friend of mine graffiti'd it up for me and I would've left it just like that but UV got the best of the work she did so I had to cover it up unfortunately.

Right now the car is rolling on XXR 527s 17x8.25 +25 with 245/50s and the fender is primered. I also swapped on some red LED tails and got rid of the spoiler (which I love this but about every other GP owner hates), put in some Corbeaus, and had to swap out the Konis out front to get rebuilt.

Right now I'm waiting on getting my Konis back to build some coilovers for the front, it sucks its sitting a little higher in the front because of the cheap GR2s I swapped in but it'll be well worth it. Stance wise I just want a little bit of tuck up front and a little bit in the back, I'll probably just cut a dead coil off the springs if I can get away with that, if not then I guess I'll have to do coils in the back as well.

I'm pretty happy with how the car is looking and am probably done with it. I'll continue to DD it since it's pretty much a new car now after all I've replaced. Once I'm making better money and have a garage I want to pick up one of these for a project

It'll be some sort of Triumph I'm sure. Along the lines of a TR5/6/7, Spitfire, or GT. Whatever I find for cheap, all I really care for is a straight body.

Taking a quick glimpse they somewhat look like gto's. +1 for going the different route

I don't mean to sound rude, but why are you on Stanceworks, then?

      Nice enough car, wrong forum.

It's your car, your build do what you want - Otherwise I'll advise to burn it down and move on

But really I've been in a couple of slammed 240s and just having to get around stuff looked like a pain in the ass to me, I still want to get around stuff relatively easily.

Bag it if you don't want to be low all of the time.

I think this is certainly improving, rear lamps made the back look a lot smoother.

Still somehow not keen on the front, any mods you can do?

What about 18's? Would that make a stance more achievable without the need to go too much lower? (Go on, just a smidge!!!)

There's a front lip I can get, projectors, or molding the bumper smooth. The car needs a repaint so I may do this when that time comes.

As for the 18s I could, but I haven't had these 17s that long. I am going lower in the front after I get my Konis back and build some coilovers. It just sits higher in the front because of the temporary GR2s are a little longer than the GR2s.

You don't have to be a half inch off the ground, even killing the wheel gap would be a good place to start. Learn how to drive a lowered car and then you'll eventually go lower. You'd be surprised how much stuff you can clear with less than 3" of ground clearance.
