Whats up guys, I'm Tyler. Very recently I had an opportunity to trade some wheels i had for a e36 323. This was my Z on CCW LM5s (and my best buddy blakes G35). This cars primary function for the first part of its life will be to get in trouble on the streets and to get beat up at the track, slowly but surely though it will turn into a full nasty competition drift car. also, just a heads up this first post is going to be a little backwards haha.

Was looking to start fresh on something fun, and found a guy who had an e36 that he wanted to get rid of and mentioned he was looking to get some wheels for his 240, so we made it happen. This is the the car after working on it all day as of an hour ago.

I'm an artist so the chalk friendly hood and fender are awesome... i will do my best to do new stuff on it every time i post an update. hopefully i can figure out how to use chalk so that i can make some cool stuff.
The Car:
well unfortunately nobody in their right mind would trade a cherry e36 for some CCWs, so this thing has a few issues, but shit i cant complain...
Good:
Strong motor
M3 rear subframe
welded diff (not sure if that falls under good, just glad its not open haha)
M3 brakes
after market suspension
Borbets
chalk hood/fender
momo bucket (shitty shape but who cares)
stage 4 clutch
spare rear subframe/axles
random bolt in cage (not installed)
box of goodies
Bad:
no second gear
stutters randomly while driving
idles rough when the motor is cold
bad driver side fender
fenders pulled by the hulk
hack job electrical work
something is loose in the rear subframe
most things that should have never been taken off/disconnected... are
etc.
etc..
etc...
Decided it couldnt be all bad since i drove it 180 miles from port st lucy to orlando haha. Now its sunday and i finally have a day off (got home with it friday at 3AM) so its time to get to work. Note that i have about 200 dolors worth of shit tools since i moved out from vegas, so at the early stages of this build things wont be as well done as i like.
first things first, diagnose this stuttering BS. i did some research and found out a few potential causes of stuttering/hesitation and the solution that made the most sense to me was spark plugs, so i started to take them out

then florida happened out of nowhere

since my 1 car garage in my apartment complex is taken by a floating 350z, i had to use the small amount i had open as a cover from the rain. fortunately it cleared up a bit before i got back from getting the new plugs. id say it definitely needed them... out with the old in with the new

fingers crossed they help

went on a quick drive to see if it helped and forgot about hood pins
hahahah

fortunately the spark plugs helped a tremendous amount! car runs sounds and preforms like a champ now.
now it was time to clean up this dirty ass interior.

nothing too fancy, just some shop towels, simple green, and some elbow grease and id say it looks a good bit better, but i probably should have taken a few more pictures lol.

then i noticed this thing...

i was pretty sure it started its life red, so i went ahead and cleaned it up

now it was on to dealing with this, now im not big on body work, nor have i ever done it. so this was done pretty half ass... haha

i literally put it in the grass and stepped on it until it popped into a decent shape.

then i went ahead and simple greened the engine bay
before:

after:

also picked this up, since half the things on this car are alien to me

not as much as i would have liked to have done by my first post, but i thought why not. I should be getting some funds in pretty soon for some real fun stuff. still haven't decided the order in which ill be upgrading, but a new trans, steering wheel and hub, drivers seat, hydraulic ebrake, BC coils, and drift spares are coming in the near future. stay tuned, this ones going to take a while
haha
