  • Oh gawd another 02 build!?

    hello guys

My name is tixoc pronounced Teeeee Zock.... yeap i know, its aztec and i am 20 years old.....

this is my first project and i just learned as i go... just used simple logic and learned how to weld through this thing called youtube... and google, good stuff

I have finally decided to post my build... I bought this 02 last year in december and i guess ill share my ideas....

    So i bought this baby
    day 1
looked good at first next to my e30 m50 swap

    started taking shit apart

    bad news bears

    shit load of rust

    started cleaning

    test fitted some stickies

cutt the front off going to make it removable

was going to a ls1 route but the machine shop offered me money for the longblock for their drag car so i couldnt refuse and sold the ls1

ripped this bitch out cuz its blows like da sum ass

modify the e30 rear subframe to fit the 02 stock mounting points.... was a bitch but got it centered

started making mounts to hold the front bumper

    okay now fast forward more.....

subframe mounted so far... see goes into stock mounting points NOT HARD..... kinda

also purchased ireland engineering full rear coilovers also i welded on camber and toe adjusters in the rear.
    BAM SON installed...

welded the strut towers together because 02 chasis are weak sauce and like older than me

    GOTA REPRESENT!

started to fix the rocker panels with new sheet metal and reinforced with 3/16 L iron angle thing...

then i picked up a s52 with 80k miles.... yea i know low!!! just how i like them

then one day i was like lets mount this bish i pushed the engine 3 inches back so weight distribution should not be tooooo bad, hatters suck on my nut (no shits given)

made some mounts and use a m20 condor speed shop solid mount

used stock m10 mount located but solid mount

then i purchased tii struts with e12 hubs for 5 lug swap and bilstein valved struts with 350 spring for the front

then got a free 4.10 LSD diff son!!!

my awesome 16 guage galvinized hot dipped steel sheet metal for rust repair omg it sucks

    how it sits now
reverse rake son! oh yea i also made flares... they go out 3 inches still not finished i am going to extend them and make them look nice

oh yea its on ac shinzters type 3 17x8.5 et14 wrapped around 255 tires
and the front will be the same wrapped in 255 aswell

oh yea inside the cock pit

i need to mounts these one day

    so thats it so far.....

Today i just ordered a 300mm willwood big brake from ireland engineering for the front so i should get that in a week.

so my plan is clean/rust repair
    coilover mod for tii struts
    fab a transmission tunnel
more rust repair/clean and more and more...
remove s52 paint engine do some preventive maintenance.
    refresh front subframe
    once everything is finished

    interior time/ first start!
    rollcage
then paint, i dont have a clue what to paint it. i was thinking like grand prix white or a jet black but we shall see ....
then time to track this bitch

Nice start and very promising work, but those wheels are way too big and look hideous. I hope a mod bans you for that thread title.

i was pretty lazy this weekend and didn't do much except for the shortening the struts, them came out decent. enjoy

just got to buy new bearings for the 5 lug hubs and press in the hubs and install 300 mm will wood brakes that are on the way from ireland engineering! those guys are awesome.

                  fabed up a new floorpan

                  driver side

i am going to try to finish the driver side tomorrow and drop the front subframe for a complete refresh and clean the engine bay.

                              clean inside

                              dirty pistons but clean bores

                              head is off

cleaned the pistons and the deck

                              wrinkle engine cover

                              New water pump

                              new housing

painted the block, came out okay

VAC Oil pan baffle for autox and track

                              oem headgasket and other goodies

                              stay tuned for this weekend

its been while since i updated this i will show where i am at

i already re-gasketed the s52, timing cover, headgasket ect whole nine with oem parts from bluntech.

after doing the engine i finished the engine bay by grinding it down and brushing on this special clear coat design to protect metal but give it that bare metal look. it looks great!

when the engine bay was done i decide to drop in the engine and try to start it. I got everything in and pluged up but only thing from keeping to start it is spark plugs and connecting the fuel pump up. other than that it cranks and i can hear the icv huming so that means its good soooo far.... lol i will find out soon
                              onto the pics

                              modified firewall

e39 m5 cyclone separator, supposedly a lot better than the stock separator

stuff i used for the bare metal look, i brushed it on and left no streaks, awesome product

oil pan clearance and its not even fully lowered

not much clearance for the boot heheh

                              bare metal finish

                              more bare metal finish

                              in all her glory

                              used mini cooper belt

                              inside

going to buy spark plugs and hook up the fuel lines and we shall see what happens cross fingers!!!! hahhhhah *screaming like a lil bitch*

as far as plugging up the s52 ODB2 into a 2002

                              x20 bmw 2002 harness

alt 25 > blue wire that is in the voltage reg
ignition 21 > green wire inside the firewall or the green wire behind the ignition starter
                              starter 15 > ground
starter 18 > pin 50 behind the ignition starter
fuel pump 13 > direct to fuel pump i am using a 318is from a e30 with pick up

and it should work, with this done i have the icv hum and crank. i just need to plop in some spark plugs and give it gas and it should be on like bing bong jack!

hopefully people can take advantage of odb2 and not convert to odb1 which is stupid, only gain you get is odb 1 intake manifold other wise a down grade

these are what i used for hooking the s52 up
                              odb2 x20

                              ms41.1 dme pin out

the rest is easy and hooking up gauges to the x20 or whatever your using

i am using a ms41.1 ecu odb2 from DesertBMW ews delete, tune rear o2 delete and much more
