  • New Car 13k Budget...

Hello I'm new to this board as this is my first post. I love cars, however I'm relatively car noobie. My old pos 2003 Saturn Ion just got whacked in a hit and run so I'm pretty much in the market for a new car. Most of my friends tend to drive faster cars.. then there's me with the 2003 ion. A few have made various suggestions on cars in my general budget such as RSX Type S, Civic SI, Mazdaspeed, and even an SRT4.

What would you guys suggest? I'm looking for a car that's reliable, but also has some juice. I want have relatively fast speeds, I'm looking for a fun car that's also dependable and will last atleast a number of years. Any suggestions/insight would be appreciated.

damn, 13k. you could get a pretty nice car for that. id go for a merc, bimmer or an s2k maybe.

of the cars you listed i'd go for the mazdaspeed3 because awd and i like the body style of early 2000s models.

I may be mistaken but the MS3's are FWD

Wrong section. No fwd. no Hondas. Get something rwd. For 13k, buy an old school Audi s4 and you'll have left over money for stance and shit

How good/reliable or Audi A4s/Mitsubishi Eclipses? Waste of money?

I didn't care for my '03 RSX Type-S, but just go drive the cars and don't decide at that moment. Sleep on it and drive MANY cars. I liked my '99.5 Audi so much I sold the RSX and got an '04 Audi A4 Ultrasport. Try to find one of those. S4 styling with 1.8T motor (less on insurance/gas/repairs/etc).

S2Ks are awesome, but man it's only 2 people in that car at one time...ever. Can't put anything in the sunken trunk and depending on your area RWD.

$13k is a good bit, don't get excited and buy the first car with leather (like I did). Just trying to shed some light ;-]

Paid 8k for my daily S2K... 2001 NFR 100k miles

Super reliable cars (I own two) the only problem is expect some SERIOUS money if you want to get a performance boost from aftermarket parts.

My AP2 is mostly Js racing parts and I can tell you from experience if you want an upgrade from factory performance it's going to cost you serious money.

If you want to stance it out for 13k you can easily get an s2k, front lip, decklid spoiler, BC N+ coils and still have 4 grand laying around to buy wheels with.

Very solid cars and reliable I've only ever had to replace a clutch master cylinder (100 dollars new) and took about 45minutes

I am biased towards e46 bmws but I would say e46 m3 if you like a coupe or 330i zhp if you like a sedan. If you want to be different, buy a Audi allroad ...everybody secretly likes a wagon.
