  • 68 280s w108 rolling project

new on here and second post.
bought my 68 merc last year. when i bought it

i new it needed some welding doing but was mot til july so just used it till it ran out.

looks not to bad on top but underneath had a few issues due to boot seal leaking in water which had caused some rot

plus some idiot had filled holes with fibre glass

as you can see it needed a lot of love.
borrowed a mates ramp for a while and stripped it back to see what the score was.

ordered some new panels from dbdepo in germany and set about the back end

cleaned of all underneath as well and gave it some fresh paint

cleaned out fuel tank and gave it some paint as well as yank guard

the only other issue underneath was some clown had tried to jack the car up using the floor pan. probably the same guy that used fibre glass instead of metal on a chassis

all sorted now and ready for its test next satuarday.
            how it sits now

next thing it needs is lowered some how??
has anyone used the h&r cup kit you can get from germany?
once i can afford to replace suspension next thing will be a respray
            will keep yous posted

nice, i like this a lot where the hell did you get that guard for the fuel tank?

I am assuming you dropped the who rear axle to paint the underside?

I thought the guard was standard on these?

I have never personally seen a guard on the fuel tank. Did you drop the whole rear axle? I have been debating to drop mine to renew the bushings, was it a PITA?

you should lower it with air suspension

                            looking good, keep it up!

Good to see a proper resto with factory replacement part.
In for updates on some lows. Pretty clean find otherwise it seems!
