  • Finishing a friend's build that didn't get the chance too. R.I.P BLACKLIST

A good majority of you might have remember or seen my good friend BLACKLIST post on the forums while building his GTO. He passed away about a year ago. Colt started out building Honda's in early 2000's. Then he started to build an RX-7 and more known was his 06 GTO.

I had a 95 civic si fully build, 440hp. Had it about 4yrs, and decided i would sell it to build the GTO. Months before he passed, he actually blew up the GTO. He never got the chance to rebuild the motor. I bought the car from his wife and will finish something he didn't get to.

Here are his Features from his GTO.

Here is the first day i trailered the GTO home. I parted ways and sold the civic to a guy in chicago to focus on this build.

The GTO hasn't been running for almost a year now. I tore the entire motor apart to see what was up. Older picture of it at my old shop.

Here is pretty much how i picked it up back in June. Car was not running, motor barely would even turn over. The pictures make it look WAY cleaner than it actually was. Car has been sitting outside for about 9 months. covered in dust, pollen, spider webs, you name it.

    And the tear down begins...

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here are some pictures from another forum that i'm sharing this build with. So, i did try starting the car when i got it back to my garage. It ran for few seconds and sounded horrible. Got the motor pulled out. Took the heads off, but didn't find any damage yet. This was my first time working on a V8

Tore apart the bottom end and found the culprit....

Crank is pretty much fucked. I measured the journal and its about 0.015-.020 difference. I'm going to junk this crank and get a new one. Plan on running forged pistons/rods/upgrade all hardware to ARP.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really love cars. Always an import guy, but wanted to go V8. Colt and I always talked about me building a 240 V8-turbo. Unfortunately he passed away. I truly love doing this stuff.

I'm shooting for 500 NA, with spray hopefully 650-680...
