  • 1989 mercedes.

Hi thought id show you the progression of my 89 300ce, I picked it up a few months ago with a years mot and tax for £550. I was going to use it as a daily driver, things soon changed when I managed to get hold of some e36 coilovers and some amg monoblocks. Now its running a custom air ride set up, ill let the pictures tell you the rest.

    Thanks for looking.

Hi mate im glad you like it, i use double bellow bags which are 7 inches wide and they just fit, i use bmw e36 coilover struts on the front which allows enough room to fit the bag, the bags fit straight in on the rear so there is no problems there. the top brackets for the bags i made are out of aluminium they are 3.5 inches long all round and 4 inches wide which gives you a nice snug fit into the cup then i bolt them up using the holes in the top of the old suspension cups and a small aluminium plate, on the bottom of the bags i use a 5mm thick plate of aluminium cut down to size then bolt the air bag up using the holes in the bottom of the wishbones so there is no welding needed.

                This picture is the front

                and this is the rear

I will take some more detailed pictures when the snow decides to leave.

wow yes. You must have a lot of room up there. What modifications did you need to do to the spring cups in order to make them work ? was it just fabrication of the D-cup bracket then bolt it into the cup ? sorry for a million questions

Hi there is no modification at all to the standard mercedes spring cups the brackets i made just slot up inside the suspension cups and then bolt into place, its such an easy job t took me 2 days to install everything!

yeah i looked under there and I was thinking if i go with a manual valve setup I can do the entire install myself minus someone to make the brackets. Sweet ride man it looks great and I love how you can run double below bags front and rear and these older mercs. makes them slam so hard !!! Keep us updated man killer benz ! love it

Hello yeah ive been looking at some ssr viennas or oz breytons!!

On the front i use ta technix e36 coilover struts with the spring removed and on the rear i use s13 shock absorbers.

I managed to get the bags for £160 and the whole kit cost me around £550 so relatively cheap in comparison to some of the kits you can buy!

Cheers man yours in nice, so much respect for running static i did it when i first brought mine and put a hole in the sump!
