Long time no update! I finally got most of the car finished and assembled. Cut the arched out today and got the flares on. For some reason the seller sent me a mixed set. The front are normal VG flares while the rears are the 4in. extended VG flares. I might need spacers but I'll wait for that until after I get the rear lowered. If there are any other okies here going to coffee and cars in march let me know. Here's some quick driveway shots. Hopefully I'll get some better pics tomorrow if weather permits.

I need to correct my previous statement that I might be able to just roll/pull. Got the wheels in today, definitely gonna have to run flares like I originally planned

Also going to have to look into getting a set of blocks for the rear until I can find someone local to de-arch my leafs, and need to find a set of AE86 front coils. I'd really like to wait until this summer when I can get everything to bag it but we'll see. I'll ride 4x4 status for a while and weigh my options.

    Front

    Rear

    My Favorite pic so far

They're still chrome and will more than likely stay that way. As for the fenders I would like to go with flares but I have no means to do metal ones and no one makes direct fit flares for my model. The closest thing that fits are Datsun 240Z flares and I feel like it's getting harder to find them for a decent price. All the low budget stuff is a copy of a copy of a reproduction etc. If I stumble across a decent set that isn't paper thin or a poor reproduction I'd love to grab them up and use them on this project.

Damn you guys! Car isn't even back together yet and I'm already cruising craigslist looking at 5 series sedans. I blame all of the outstanding examples shown here..

Lol anyways, quick update. Paint is finished for the most part, had to do a few touch-ups. Fender flares fell through since they weren't up to snuff when I received them from the seller. Sent back for a refund, 'nuff said. Also had a problem with the chin spoiler I ordered, but that's sorted and the new one is installed.

Still waiting on the rear lip spoiler and my new wheels, which should be in tomorrow. Ended up going with 15x9 -15 all around. Might try to get away with just a roll but we'll see once everything is on. Gonna run 195/50/15's. Still need to get the harness bar rear brace in and install my audio stuff. I'll have pics up as soon as things are buttoned up. Hope everyone had a awesome weekend

I say you black them out. Black and white cars are tits specially from the 70'z and early 80's

More progress. Started the long process of buffing and polishing the car today. Got the right side done before my shoulder and back said it was time to call it a day. Being the stubborn jackass that I am I wasn't about to call it quits so I went ahead and got the badges and trim put back on as well. I'm really proud of my first paint job not perfect by any means but not bad either

Oh btw should I black out the headlight trim to match my black and white scheme or leave them chrome?

Came home last night and opened the garage to unload some stuff. The carooked like this sitting all alone with just the single low watt light above. Standingin the dark I thought it'd make a cool picture to share. Sorry for the low quality, I'm still trying to figure out all the setting on my dslr and how they work.

Also laid another coat of paint today. Only one coat left and then I'll spend monday wet sanding and buffing.
