Thanks, I'll let you know. The car is pretty complete as far as I can see, though I may want to check out options for the front lip.

I'm actually not sure what I'm going to do about wheels just yet. As I'm sure you know, the bolt pattern on these things (5x108) gives you fairly limited choices for wheels. My thought is that I'll just slap some paint on these current wheels for now until I put in the Ford 8.8 rear. Once the new rear is in, I will look into double drilling the front hubs to give me 5x114 all around.
I woke up a little late because I anticipated rain, but I still made a bit of progress. I got the exhaust manifolds and motor mounts off of the new engine, then I cleaned up the block a bit and shot some paint.
I cleaned up the rusty clutch assembly with some scotchbrite and painted the pressure plate.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be posting up some pictures of the new engine mounted up in the car.

I made some good progress the last couple days. I swapped out the oil pan for the one from the junk motor. The new pan has oil return ports just in case I go turbo.
I installed the lower intake, a newer balancer, an underdriven crank pulley, changed the timing cover and installed a water pump that spins the right direction. Next I need to get all of the wiring hooked up, the fuel rails on.

It seems like slow going now that the tempurature finally caught up with me. I did pull the Volvo out of its muddy parking spot using the e24 and pushed it into the garage. Lots of gaskets and other maintenance items are coming in and I got the fuel rails and some wiring in place. Looks like I'll have to spend a little time cleaning my garage so that I can safely use my propane heater out there.

Big milestone achieved! The engine is making spark and will turn over on a shot of starting fluid. The gas tank doesn't seem to have any water in it but the gas looks old so I'm going to pump that all out and put in some fresh gas and new filters. More progress once I pick up a couple more tanks of propane for the heater.
My friend shot a quick video of it yesterday and then did a little test with some polishing compound. Now I can see the potential of this old faded paint.

This should be a little rocket when done. Old Ford 302 shit is cheap as fuck, same with third gen Camaro shit. Both groups won't pay what we do on Mercedes and BMW. Looking forward to hearing that it runs.

Well...my initial assessment of the water in the gas tank situation was wrong. I got a couple gallons out and started to notice that it was less and less gas and more seawater. Figuring the damage was already done, I kept pumping. I got to 12 gallons of water/gas and then the pump failed.
The logical way to proceed would be to drain the tank and replace the pump, unfortunately for my wallet, I see every problem as an excuse to upgrade. My coworker is helping me out again by finding me a deal on a 15 gallon fuel cell which will be going into the trunk with an aeromotive pump.
An additional benefit of this upgrade will be the ability to eliminate the main pump which was going to interfere with my plans for the exhaust.
