This will be a slow build as I have another one going on with my type3 vw squareback.
But I'll try to keep some updates coming on small things I do this winter.
When I got "Ted"
1991 vw cabriolet
Triple white.
Front end damage, had to replace the core support and on a mk1 they are welded on.

Picture of the grille with emblem.

Interior pic.

Top. Looks khaki, but just needs a good cleaning.
Good condition, no rips or tears that I can find.

Top of core support removed.

Drilling out the welds on the core support.

New support.
I bought a grinder and a chisel and got to work with some friends one night.

Mockup before welding it on.

First installed pic of the core support.

A replacement hood I found, color was off by a bit but worked for the time.

Wired up a switch to check the ignition.
Ordered a new one the next day.
Still was having trouble getting it started for more than a few seconds.
After trying numerous things and a few different people helping I found a hole in a fuel line in the tank.
Swapped that out and Ted came alive.
I had told a few people I would order coilovers as soon as the car started so that night I placed an order.

Had some Porsche Phonedials and adapters.

But I had always had a thing for some other wheels.

Took a while to find a place that would change the hub size for me, they were for a Mini Cooper I think.
Finally found a guy to do it though.

A girl gave me a friend so I could ride in the HOV lane.

Had been looking to change the interior for a while. Ran across one at the junk yard with a black lower dash and some needed window switches.
Before.
After.

Picked up a steering wheel from rennstall when I was out in California at the Avila show.

Just been using it as my daily since then until my oil pan busted, no holes but the drain plug bolt came unwelded inside.
New one installed today so back on the road.

Just went on a little drive and saw this interesting seesaw caution sign.
Sorry for the long first post.
But here is Ted.
I have some big plans, but might be a while before I get around to them.
