  • Opel Senator 2.3TD project (picture heavy)

Hello. I've got a 84 Opel Senator 2.3 TurboDiesel that is a rolling project. The theme is Black Smoke Racing The orgiginal 2.3TD is turned up, and the original turbo is boosting 1.6 at max, have also had a peak up to 1,9 The goal is 200 whp and perhaps more

I've bought it in December last year, very cheap, and drove it home in the middle of the night, in the first winterstorm But it was worth it

This is how it looked the day after I got it

    The beast of the engine

A photoshoot with the new camera The blue head lamps is gone

Mounting on the straight pipe, 3 inch in, and a 5 inch tip Nice sound

The new rims, 7x15 Azev A, painting them matte White

    Out cruising in the spring

Had a major disaster, the gearbox couldnt handle the tork, a old 3 speed automatic, so then it stood still for almost half a year, before i found a manual Getrag 240Diesel gearbox 5 speed to put in. Also bought a Sinterclutch kit from ebay

    Rust <3

Mounted a 12 inch long airfilter, fitted straight on the old airfilterbox

Minor adjustment on the gearshifter before photoshoot

    Plans for it now is:
    Change front and rear bumper
    Fix the rust
    New paintjob
New turbo and intake manifold, new radiator and intercooler
    New dieselpump
New rims, Azev A 8,5x17? BBS RS style 8x17 and 9x17?
    Lowering springs

    Hope for comments

Some pics of my old car, a 1997 Opel Omega 2.0 16V A fun car to drive on the winter

    Used on a frozen lake

Bought some new summer wheels for it, 8,5x18 in front and 9,5x18 at the rear, Keskin Kt5

Used some electrotape and taped the headlights

It's a shame that I sold this car and bougt the Vectra 4x4 Turbo, that car was the best car I've ever owned!

        Nice project you have there...

Fix the rust asap otherwise it will kill the car, make sure to protect
the car with a good stuff like "MIKE SANDERS".

Some Borbet A, coilovers and car would be perfect imo...

Also i would love to see some pics of the Vectra and Ascona

The Senator? It will be lowered, but here in Norway, we have very poor road standards... So it wont be slammed, yet

But, here is some pics of the Vectra 4x4 Turbo It has new turbo and a bit too big intercooler, and EDS Phase 3,5 chip. 3 inch exhaust that ends in a double 4 inch tip Nice and big

This car will be stripped down, and get new paint, and new bumpers. The transferbox will be upgraded, and diff lock is on the wish list. Hopefully it will get coilovers. And some new rims

                Original exhaust

With the original Vectra Turbo wheels

Made a lip to the frontbumper, because it was broken (previous owner)

Got rid of the angeleyes, and bought some new with smoked turning signal

                Winterrims

                Fotoshoot

Testing some new rims Eiker E1 7,5x17 ET20

And the Zito rims we bought to our 2001 Passat 8x17 Et28

This is it for now, see if I can find some pics of the Ascona

Found some few pics of the Ascona, this is from May 2012, then it was 3 years since last time it was out of the shed. With jumpercables from the tractor, it jumped to life

I washed it, and then put it back I don't have time, and a place to take it apart yet.

                  But plans:
                  Volvo T5 engine and gearbox
                  Coilovers
                  Original GT and Sprint details
Brock B1 8,5x17 or 9x16, maybe som other wide cool oldschool wheels

Of course I would look after the Senator I know many who wan't to buy it, but I like it alot, so I don't think I won't sell it I did'nt know they come with TurboDiesel either, but after i bought mine, i've come over 3 more. But I've been told only about 700 is produced

There is very few that has tuned the 2.3 TurboDiesel, so I hope i could reach about 200 Whp But I don't think it will be easy :P

Wow only 700 of the TD produced? You're lucky, I would imagine majority of them probably dont exist anymore due to rust or being crashed etc. So that makes it even rarer! Very nice car always had an interest in the Senator and the Omega! If you're ever looking for some inspiration, do a Google search for Holden VK Commodore. They were Australian built cars based on Senator but a few inches wider, and they were available with V6 or V8 engines. Heres a few for ya!

Nice to see you on here too Modlendingen, i think maybe the block will be the weakest link on the engine (er, maybe pistons and connecting rods too), wasnt the 2.3 diesel just a modified gasoline engine?
